Tees! - Topic of the day 10/5/23
What place do they have in your wardrobe? Do you prioritize graphics of a particular kind? Do you search for new or vintage? Do you go cheap or ball out?

I love tee shirt
Searching for good tees at thrift stores is a classic joy
My go to fit format is t shirt plus some dressier elements like pleated slacks and loafers, just a nice clean casual fit with a little personality from the details
I am willing to pay for tees since I wear them so much and so prominantly. My main tees are AA-derivative blank black soft cotton tees that I intersperse with band tees for shows I've been to, it's basically just filler
but I also have pricier ones like Online Ceramics (3) and similar
Ironically, my favorite tee's are the absolute bottom of the barrel, worn out, fruit of the loom gray tshirts I got from the discount store 7 years ago. I have much nicer and more presentable shirts, but something just feels comfortable about these total no-fuss ones.
Of more pricy ones, I have a few 3sixteen tee's, which are fine but the fit isnt ideal for me. Two Lady White Co. tshirts, which are almost great except for two things- 1, the white fabric was for some reason way more likely to get discolored spots than other white tee's, not sure why and 2- the hem flips up, which happens to reveal the care tag. All in all, both these expensive options have me overthinking and overexpecting the details.
Also have a ton of t-shirts from Wolf vs Goat as I fell into the rabbit hole of reddit recommended brands. Some of these were alright, but for many the quality was very lacking, and most have worn out by now.
I am currently enjoying some of Nudie's tee's- at retail price they are too expensive for me, but I've found a few for $20. They are slightly more interesting than normal and i find the cut to be comfortable and relaxed. The only complaint is the color seems to fade quicker than other shirts, but i dont really mind
All in all, since I dont use t shirts as the main focus, I generally like the low-key ones
Oversized or graphic tees I wear often. I very rarely wear a normal fitting tee without a graphic though. Generally like it to have some interesting element whether that's silhouette, graphic, or texture/weave.
Most of my shirts are solid colors. All saints makes up probably a third of my tees. The rest are a mix of Vince, rag&bone, and James Perse. I do purchase one graphic tee from each national park that I visit so I've got close to 20 of those. Separately, I have maybe 20ish shirts from Lululemon and rhone, but they're pretty much only worn for the gym
I've been wearing more graphic tees lately after spending many years only wearing blanks. I look for vintage ones (or ones that are styled a certain way) on eBay, which has turned up some good results.
That second one is so fun
Parks project is awesome - thanks for supporting!
yeah it's from Parks Project, shoutout @raisin for introducing me to them. I snagged another one from eBay for real cheap too with a similar design (the cream colored one is just CA national parks whereas this one is US national parks)
clearer image of the CA one
So cool. Really want one too now
Parks project is very cool
Yeah I really like their designs. The only thing I don't like is that some of their cool designs they print on the back of the shirt rather than the front. Like... why
like I would like this way more if the big graphic were on the front not the back
same here
Eh I don't mind that, makes them wearable with flannels
Just raw hem the collar and wear it backwards
I wear tees a lot, but I’m generally a fan of blank ones. Some of my favorites are Whitesville, Merz, Mister Freedom, and Addict Japan. I recently got some Uniqlo U oversized Airism tees which I cropped and have been enjoying.
The only tees i get are band tees
I try to get one at every concert i go to cause its a happy wearable memory
I dont find that i really wear them in my fits that i share though
That may be a good challenge
my wife and i have a goal to visit all the US national parks in our lifetime, so it's always cool to see people supporting them
I get graphic tees more on impulse than much else. I have discovered the joy of cropping them just to where they would fall against the waistband of your bottoms.
The weather where I live is always very hot or humid so I practically live in t shirts unless I’m at work. I have a lot to of graphic tees but some of my favorite shirts to wear are just a plain olive or plain black t shirt. I wanna say they’re blanks from next level apparel. I got a band shirt made with their blanks and loved that they were soft and had a tighter fit but they weren’t u comfortable at all. Also very cheap which is good for a broke college student
really like NLA for the cheap blanks
My pistol lake, eudae tees are finally starting to die. I am so sad 😭
my friend once said people who wear plain tshirts are psychopaths
Need new friends
What does your friend wear?
graphic tees
too many of them
Is he band tee guy
yes
I know exactly how he looks and dresses
for sure for sure
I’ve horseshoe theory-ed my way back to hating plain tees im with him
Shirt with cool picture on it - a clean minimalist shirt for a clean look - shirt with cool picture on it
I have way too many tees for how many I actually wear for fits, I generally stick to the 3 or 4 plain colored ones that I have. I used to wear more graphic and patterned t-shirts but those have been falling to the wayside for me recently as I steer more towards minimalist fits. Definitely need some new better fitting ones too as I’ve put on a little weight recently 😬
I’ve found knit tees to be pretty consistently some of my favorite things to wear. Usually, I find some on Yoox that I like, then grab them if they fall to around $30-$35. Generally, I go for solid or horizontal stripes, but I also really like something with a gradient or kind of flecked colors.
I really adore vintage tees both graphic and plain, there is something so special about how the jersey ages. A few of mine that are practically to the point of disintegrating have become ongoing darning projects, the mends and remaining holes add great texture to a look imo
Been considering splurging on a pair of Lady White tees to see if they are worth it to me. Timeless, versatile, etc.
I also need to replace my band tees and tie dies with ones that fit me.
Also a big fan of merino wool tees. Amazing for travel.
Also been trying to get tees in a variety of colors.
So, basically I'm saying I need to buy ALL the tshirts.
What brands do you go with? My favorite is probably Unbound, but I recently found Quince and it seems okay. I have an Icebreaker one as well but that one is pretty scratchy compared to how soft unbound and quince are
Smartwool
