I'm about to inherit this watch. Is this something that I can dress down with a more casual band?

This would be my first non-Apple, non-cheap dress watch. I'd love to be able to wear it more than just with a suit, but is it too dressy for that? Would swapping the band for something like a NATO strap dress it down, or would that be too incongruous?

Imo you'll be fine wearing this casually. Maybe not sneakers and cargo shorts casual, but if you're wearing a shirt and chino's or denim with leather shoes this would work pretty good. I wouldn't put a nato strap on this. I can't really see but it seems like there's black leather on it now?

Given your style I don't think you'll have any problems wearing this as is. Don't think it needs to be dressed down with a NATO (also think it would look rather bad on a NATO). I think it's rare a watch is too dressy to work casually

Yeah, it’s coming with a new plain black leather strap

That’s a nice piece. Here’s some of my vintage “dress” watches that I wear with near anything. Darker fits and anything brown get the LP 18k gold / dark brown Lighter casual fits + mix and match get the Omega 14k / light brown Both add a taste of luxury and ground outfits extremely well Wear your watch often and with pride!

Re strap - replace only if it’s uncomfortable and doesn’t fit you. Quality straps get better with age. Prettier? No. But definitely better.
