I’d call this lookbook “a lot” https://www.beams.co.jp/special/beamsplus/2023aw/
i love their knits. I like when they get more creative/experimental like in the lookbook above^ otherwise they are just kind of a more boring derivative of Engineered Garments
They have sort of found their niche in between there more out-there jp americana brands and copying Vintage RL which is cool
Lot of their stuff r preppy
The classic American styling with the japanese sizing 😭
Agree lol i have to up two sizes for proper fit
Reminds me of the photos on Cultzim were they didn't manage to find someone that fit the beams trousers
I feel like that is a problem with a lot of lookbooks because they try to cram in so many items into a single outfit which becomes a bit of a mess
I don’t think the styling is even bad
There’s something there with how the Japanese seem to be able to emulate so many different (sub)cultures but through their lens. It’s almost easier to understand what defines “American culture” by what other cultures seem to gravitate towards within it.
they are great at ripping off native american culture i’ll give them that
and baseball kapital knows we love baseball
been looking at the beams cardigans forever. can't decide on a colorway tho. leaning blue or green.
Oof
Killer
Im leaning navy
I don't see them as being that similar, and hard to be a derivative when they were started in the same year lol
I've got a few pieces, including a really nice rugby top. quality in general is good. The sizing has always been great for me, and I'm pretty damn tall, broader people I could see struggling some.
Ametora is a fantastic book on exactly this subject.
Navy. I'm getting the navy one now. I've also been in the market for one. Thanks for this!

End sale too? Sheesh.
I'm scared of sizing since it's a Japanese brand. Feel like going one size up, but might end up being too long.
beams plus is 1 size up for trimmed fitting
Sizing up on a cardigan is fine too tbh
Thanks to you both. I was second guessing myself. I appreciate the advice!
You’re a legend, I’ve been wanting to get a cardigan too
Killer DB blazer for S/S 24
I agree. I think they have something for everyone.
How is there not one Japanese person in there
How do you know none of them are Japanese?
Japanese-passing then
J Crew x Beams+
anyone else having trouble accessing the beams website? even using a VPN i’m getting server errors
yeah i cant access the site on my home network but it works fine on mobile data. i suspect its something to do with xfinity, but haven't been able to solve it
got it to work with mobile data too, thx for the tip! guess xfinity doesn’t like the drip 😔
Anyone have or tried on a balmacaan from Beams+? I am looking at secondhand ones. Based on the size charts, it almost seems like L would fit me best, but that's weird since I typically wear Size S or M. I am 5'5 with a 37" chest. I know Beams is a Japanese brand, but damn the chest seems small on these. I'd think I want at least 42" right? https://nomanwalksalone.com/products/balmacaan-coat-in-harris-tweed-black-and-grey-wool-patchwork
No Man Walks Alone
Balmacaan coat in Harris Tweed black and grey wool patchwork (restock)
"Beams+ has a longstanding tradition of making Harris Tweed balmacaans each fall, and whether it's a wild patchwork or a tasteful classic, it's always a sure hit. This take is as chic as a tweed patchwork can be, with dark greys suited for the city. Wear with the collar popped and throat latch done up for straight out
I've sized up in the few Beams pieces I have. No jacket, but everything has tended to run small in my limited experience.
