new rat rig 3.1 build bed is definitely not flat any ideas
I’m doing a cold bed mesh to check how flat the new bed on the new printer is I usually get mandala rose work beds but this one came with the kit so I am trying it out is this normal for a new bed from rat rig on a cold check using beacon

Why do you think its the bed?

It’s either the bed or my gantry is bent in the center but that does not explain the dip in the middle as a bent bend would I believe

for the dip you can loosen and properly retighten all of the screws
I had the same dip and it mostly fixed it
but I think for most of your variance you can just lower both the front corners (and probably especially the left one) of the Y axis a tiny bit to fix this, it should be really easy

What do you mean by lower the corners and what bolts are you referring to ? @goldenspamfish

there's a video on fixing frame squareness it's sent in basically every "fix my mesh"
rising-crimsonOP•15mo ago
My frame is literally perfectly squared tho

I was intimidated for a while but it's actually really easy, took like 15 mins to go from .9mm to .35
like when building it?
did you run a Z Tilt?
rising-crimsonOP•15mo ago
Yes and double checked it I have a feeling that it’s my actual x rail it looked bowed when I put it up against a flat bar
So I’m hoping that’s what causing it I have a new one ordered and also doing the awd mod from brs
Yeah z tilt was done as well
If I preheat the chamber for like 40 min it is better
But il definitely be looking for that video and check that just in case

yeah I had to sorta trial and error shift stuff
but it's true it is weird because both front corners are low not just one
did you try loosening and retightening the screws on the X gantry?
because that does do something
rising-crimsonOP•15mo ago
Yeah I have but I am hoping it gets sorted with the new parts sealing to the all metal x idlers
And new x rail as well
like-gold•15mo ago
new X rail will probably do it
rising-crimsonOP•15mo ago
Yeah just 10 more days before they even ship it lol
I’m also thinking maybe it’s the beacon scanning the edges of the bed

hmm
rising-crimsonOP•15mo ago
So we shall see when the next bit of parts show up il definitely post an update printer prints amazing tho and at 35k axels

is it possible that the Y rails aren't parallel?
rising-crimsonOP•15mo ago
rising-crimsonOP•15mo ago
You know il have to re measure that
Just to be sure

very fancy machine
my 500 definitely can't do accels like that
rising-crimsonOP•15mo ago
Idk how I feel about this tool head

I get 16000 and 5000
rising-crimsonOP•15mo ago
I wish I had room for a 300
But these ratrigs are huge
like-gold•15mo ago
lol I'm in a college dorm
I just make it work
rising-crimsonOP•15mo ago
I could only imagine Jesus man post a pic of it lol need to see this thing in a small space
I have my shed an 8x8 lol
Have 6 printers and the ratrig is definitely one of the biggest in external size lol
It’s just a bit smaller than my 350 vorons
like-gold•15mo ago
I have more space than the average dorm at least
I share a common room with 2 other people and it sits in this little nook there

it honestly fits perfectly
rising-crimsonOP•15mo ago
That thing is massive
like-gold•15mo ago
yeah honestly it's hard to use the whole space due to the cost of filament
rising-crimsonOP•15mo ago
When I build my bigger man cave of 12x16 il definitely be getting one lol
like-gold•15mo ago
If the IDEX mod gets really good I may try it
the IDEX wide boy seems awesome tho so maybe it would need to be a new printer
rising-crimsonOP•15mo ago
And yeah I use the 6kg rolls from polimaker
like-gold•15mo ago
just want to get in on the soluble thing
are they actually cheaper tho
rising-crimsonOP•15mo ago
Yeah with a printer that big you definitely can
And it’s only a bit cheeper but not having to worry about running out of material while making a large print is nice and so far I have not had a single 6kg roll come tangled so there’s that
like-gold•15mo ago
I like to always print out of a dryer so I can't really use huge rolls
but I have a runout sensor so it's not hard to swap spools every 20 hours or so
mainly use the size for super light UAV parts so the filament use isn't crazy
Honestly, something I've wondered about is how much the actual value of variance even matters
like if it prints fine and it looks to me like the slope is smooth and gradual, it seems like it probably isn't a huge problem
rising-crimsonOP•15mo ago
It prints fine but man I’m used to seeing .102 to .130 with my mandal beds
But yeah it still will print fine it’s compensating for it with the bed mesh
like-gold•15mo ago
bed mesh stuff isnt about finding a number its about improving first layer or spotting major frame issues
I was actually getting bad first layer just because huge parts + big variance is hard to compensate for, so that justified my effort
if theres no discernable issue its probably not worth any effor at all
