Help with billing changes since August
So, starting August you can no longer pay by credits and can only leave the credit card to be charged for all your usage. Is there a way to set a limit? Like "stop the instance if it reaches x$ amount"? I liked the old credit plan as I could pay what I was actually going to use. Now I feel like any mistake could burn my credit card and I'm considering changing to another provider.

credit based usage has not changed at all
so I'm not sure where you got that information
I think they mean your card is always linked, even if you're on the grandfathered plan
Before the billing changes you could have credits (and be on the developer plan) without a card directly linked, so any overages aren't charged
but it wouldn't be charged if you are on the credit based plan, it's only there for verification and so you can load credits at your discretion, the credit based plan will not auto charge the card like to usage based plan does
Before the billing changes though your card wasn't listed at all on the billing page
it was still attached to the account regardless
I mean there is no credit based plan anymore, no? Isn't the hobby plan monthly?
It's not really clear what happens in that case. Maybe it could be in the pricing docs or something
there is absolutely still a credit based plan, it never went away, I don't understand the confusion, if you used to be on the credit based plan, you still would be
just now it's called hobby and there's a monthly fee
credit based developer plan -> credit based hobby plan
It doesn't say anything about credit based in the billing tab, I see my credit amount as well as "Linked card". With those, as well as the hobby plan's description that any resources over the $5/mo discount will be charged, I'm under the assumption that that'll go to my card once my credits are used
Oops, never mind. Looks like it says your services will be stopped once you run out of credits
I'm not on the credit based plan, but I've seen numerous screenshots from people who are on the credit based hobby plan, since they used to be on the credit based developer plan
You're right, didn't notice that haha
not sure what this post is about then
me neither? just gotta read the text on the webpage instead of jumping to conclusions
I did actually think something similar to OP, which led me to replace the card with another I control the amount on
looks like that's not the case though, sorry
nope not at all, same old credit system
I'm gonna go ahead and lock this thread to prevent duplicate questions
tl;dr the credit plan hasn't gone anywhere
