New MOBO has no line in, which i used to use for console audio.
Can I use either the mic or line out on the back of my mobo in the same way somehow? Probably sounds stupid but i wanna know if i can use it in the way of having a 3.5 going from moniter into one to hear console audio like i used to do.

Mic jack = line in
Can confirm, have a input audio on VoiceMeeter (I know but until I have hardware that supports audio routing software, I stuck) that's dedicated to console audio via my HDMI Switcher
As Matty said, the mic in is often the line in. But check your motherboard manual.
If worst comes to worst, and it’s only a mic in and you must use it as a line in, you can get an attenuator pad cable, or one of those unpowered “volbox” adjusters, to reduce the signal by 20 or 25 dB.
