XMP allows your RAM to work at the speed you bought it for. Otherwise it is limited to a much lower baseline spd. So yes, if you bought 6000 mt/s and want to get more than 4800 mt/s, you should activate it.
(You can also not enable XMP and manually tune that, but uh, let's put it like this, if you ask this question, you're very much not ready to do manual memory timing 😄 )
Also, you ended up going with the 12900k over the 7700x, I see.
Lol alrighty thank you
i did! $450 for i9-12900k, mobo, ddr5 6000
killer deal
And how was the 7700x combo?
plus someone said there was stability issues with the 7700x
that one was $400
They did say so. It wasn't false per se, but it was already addressed and wasn't ever really much of an issue.
Well, the 12900k will serve you well. I'd have personally gone for the other one. But it's not like the 12900 is bad by any means. :3
Yea i kinda figured it can be "blown out of proportion" but im already using intel and ik the i9-12900k is a killer cpu that will last me a while
Yeah.
As I said in that thread, if you don't plan to upgrade in the next ~4 years, the fact it's a dead-end platform doesn't matter that much. And if you plan to do a lot of super-highly threaded productive work, it's better.
It's worse for single-threaded content like gaming though.
im using a bequiet shadow rock 3 to cool it
ah thats unfortunate
but it will sure be better than my i7-8700
I suggested the Thermalright peerless assassin to you.
ill upgrade to a 240 aio probably
is that a cooler? sorry im forgetful
Yes.
Noted, went for the shadow rock 3 bc of price/budget
PA costs $40-55.
Damn :c
And is as good as coolers twice the price.
i dont thubk i saw your message about that originally unfortunately
or i forgot </3
but ill take note of that
Ahhh kk
But yes, keep the Peerless Assassin in mind. Here's the Tom's Hardware review:
always spends a lot of time researching before pulling the trigger on PC purchases.
Damn nice
pa120se?
The shadow rock 3 is probably fine as well. You won't need to change it.
Lol alright
SE vs non-SE is just rgb, I think.
ill keep yall up to date on temps when i get it up and running lol
👌
i was gonna say i now have a "starfield ready pc" but honestly noone pcs will handle the soon to be beautiful broken mess of a game
Bethesda have a long history of their games running like utter shit on PC since they started designing them for consoles first.
Yuppp
I still remember Fallout 3 crashing when you entered houses due to people having the most common media codec installed on their computers.
haha
And Oblivion 3 had every "enchanted" item lose its texture and appear as a white/black mess.
recently i got back into oblivion and had to install a few stutter fixes and stuff
and a alt tab fix which is a godsend
This is a good air flow combo right? Juat wanna make sure the 2 top exhaust fans wont mess with cooling the cpu or something
Uh. The science of fans is beyond me. I'd try a different thread for that one. G'luck.
lol alrightyy
Even amount of intake to exhaust. You might not need the top two but check your temps
