Pants for larger hips/butt?
I'm trans, but this might also be relevant/a good question for guys who lift and don't skip leg day. I have issues with pants fitting everywhere except my hip area due to those areas being larger than they would be on cis men. Does anyone have recommendations for brands/cuts that might be a bit roomier in that area without completely swamping me elsewhere?

Pleated pants might help. They generally allow a bit more space/movement in the top block. But I'll defer to those with first hand experience.
Oh, I hadn't thought of that at all, that's definitely something to experiment with
In addition to pleats, you may want to look for relaxed cuts, athletic cuts, or wide cuts. I'd recommend trying some stuff on in-person. If pants fit you well in the thighs/hips but are too big on the waist, another idea is to get them taken in at the waist by a tailor
If you specify what pants you're looking for (jeans? chinos? fatigues? wool trousers? linen pants? something else?) and a budget, I (and others) might be able to help with specific recommendations
mostly in the jeans/chinos realm, I think! I could do around $100 per pair, but cheaper is better at this point in my life. I appreciate the help!
In that price range I would try Gramiccis G Pant. It’s not pleated but a generous cut and elastic waist.
I'll take a look!
Gramicci is a good rec. For jeans, maybe something like a Levi's 569, chinos maybe the J Crew classic chino or giant fit chino. If you're willing to shop around for secondhand/vintage stuff, check out this message https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1134140733419442288/1134167480051445891 from digs, you can find vintage chinos/fatigues with full cuts that should have plenty of room in the hip/thigh. Same with jeans - fuller cuts of vintage Levi's, for example
If you're interested in linen pants, I'm really happy with Black Ficus, their Palazzo cut is relaxed and can be seen here https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1116800072093532191/1133100985326243971
thank you! these are really helpful suggestions, it'll take some experimentation but I feel like I have someplace to start now
it feels overwhelming trying to go from "well it fits on my body so I'll wear it" to "it fits well and looks good" 😵💫
it's probably just going to take some time and trying things on before you figure out what works for you. But you'll get there!
Thanks! I really appreciate the help, having a place to start is great
<$100 gramicci, vintage levis silvertabs, vintage nike acg, carhartt relaxed fit (sized up one), stan ray (size up one)
>$100 universal works, engineered garments, south2 west8, carrier company work pants, evan kinori, de bonne facture, never cursed (mtm), story mfg, mfpen.
thank you!
Taking in oversized pants is pretty easy in most cases so that’s a good call, easy to buy some stuff to try out new styles at the thrift and just throw a couple tacking stitches in them and see how you like it
im a cis man with a truly ginormous ass. like my seat measurement is 48" but my waist is 36". The only pants that fit me well are dickies. Take into account im a broke college student who can't afford anything more than about $75. I find that the high rise of them allows tons of room, and the vertically cut pockets sort of act as pleats. They're cheap so you might as well give them a try. Personally I like the dickies double knee loose fit work pant because its nice and wide but you could go for an 874 original cut if that's what you're more used to.
I'll check those out!
olive clothing have some nice wide jeans/pants
I would second the pleated reccomendation as somebody who likes a bit of movement
Do you like a straight leg look or a roomier thigh that tapers by the knee down?
Highly, highly recommend measuring your thighs and your favorite pair of pants
Roomier fits so far that worked for me have been with Bronson Mfg and Uniqlo Women’s Wide Fit Pleated pants
Like others said, pleate are a godsend
I’ve never tried pleats before, so that’s a definite next step! I think I need to do more experimentation + trying things on to answer your first question
