Thinking of picking up some boots what are some do's and Dont's
So I want to get some boots because I realize now that they are very very diverse in what u can do with them and was thinking of getting black boots and I was thinking of how the bottomwear could make or break the whole outfit tahts why I want to know ure guy's experience/thoughts on boots
something that looks like the one from the picture they seem to be chelsea boots but I cant find the specefic name

Doc martens? They're good
The boots in the picture have a chunky sole and are tight around the ankle which give them a different look to most Chelsea boots
Compare the classic Chelsea boots above with the silhouette of the second pair here
Anyway boots can be great if you get the interaction with your trousers right. What you choose depends on the rest of your style
im thinking of wearing it with beige linen relaxed fit trousers
these im thinking of wearing them high waisted to not make it touch the floor so the shoes/boots can be seen
remember you're not wearing the boots with one pair of pants. You want something that will be flexible across a number of outfits
yeah that's why I chose black because3 i feel as its very flexible
Not just the colour but the style of boots as well. Classic Chelsea boots do work with a lot of menswear fits, if that's your general style. Something like Docs (don't buy actual docs) is more owkrwear/street oriented.
i was thinking somethign between formal boots and military boots
I like the thick look of the sole
you could look at boots with Commando soles for a middle ground
ok so like I found these things
I feel like if I choose the second one it looks too "fancy" if that makes anysense but for my wardrobe/outfits i want them to look casual so is the first one a safe bet>?
I would steer away from black shoes with light beige trousers tbh
Black shoes with beige pants isn't easy to pull off
in person it isnt that biege more so towards the white
**white color
Even worse then
Also what's your budget?
Less than 150 usd
My idea is that the wide ends of the trousers transitioning to a slim ankle boots
If it's close to white you could absolutely do black shoes, as long as it's very white
This the look you're going for?
something like this
not exactly
If the US is your country I recommend thrifting in that budget
the middle one but with something similar to the boots to the right
Doc marten 1460s
Iconic shoes
You want even higher platform?
ill keep that in mind I like the no laces look tho
uhh not too high
im 5'11
so yeah
Doc martens 2976 Chelsea boots
oh yes that looks very good
also this is gonna be odd but does the price a good indicator of the quality?
cause the boots i showed are 60 bucks
the boot specifically looks like it's modelled after a bottega lug boot
and ik that boots are atleast 100+ uisually
Sometimes, but lower quality boots don't last very long
Get thrifted higher end boots. What's your size?
12
eytys is a cheaper alternative that's fairly okay for quality
please stop telling people to buy docs, they're terrible for the price
I'm from the UK I'm allowed to shit talk them
uhhh ok....
thoughts on the boots I sent?
from mango
well mango will be worse quality than docs but a third of the price
Go to one of these sites:
Poshmark
Grailled
Shopgoodwill
And as a last resort, ebay
And search for these brands:
Meermin
Allen Edmonds
Beckett Simonon
I don't think you'll find other good brands thrifted in that budget, but higher end -
RM Williams
Blundstone
For 60 bucks... They will look like the picture for approximately 2 wears before the leather will wrinkle and crack and start to flake
But if it's a new style you're playing with there's no harm in getting the cheaper option first
definitely seconding that you should be looking second hand though
I'd actually suggest physically checking Goodwill stores
I would 100% go on eBay and buy some reputable 2nd hand boots made by a shoe or boot maker for the same price
Don't buy footwear made by a fast fashion brand
Ebay is great, but you won't get the kind of deals you get in shopgoodwill and the like
i actually also had another insentive of getting boots
and thats for the rainy days too
it rains a hell lot for months on end where I am from
but its like 1 maybe 2 months
so yeah its not just for the fashion
Blundstone is good
at least the chunky soles would keep your socks out the water 😄
tahts the idea
of why i wanna get somewhat chunky
ill keep those in mind thanks
Blundstones will last in the rain
ok thanks
You'll also be able to actually find what you're looking for though
should I avoid high platform boots?
just a thought
I found AEs in Goodwill for 20
does anyoner know the styl;e or name of the sole that looks like it has grip?
Lug sole
ok thanks
Commando sole or combat sole are also used
ok thanks
Vibram is one to look for. Or Dainite for a rubber grippy sole in a sleeker profile
the boots i am looking through rn on ebay looks very round thats why
not for me
The rounder the better
Bunny boots
Bunny boots or Mickey Mouse boots (depending on the version) are the most common nicknames for the Extreme Cold Vapor Barrier Boots (Types I and II) used by the United States Armed Forces. These large, bulbous, waterproof rubber boots can be worn in extremely cold weather, −20 to −60 °F (−29 to −51 °C), with the liner-free interior retaining war...
(not a serious suggestion)
u had me there
for a sec
I mean they're hard but not what you're after 😄
also I realized chelsea boots are just a name
not rlly a brand
im kinda surprised that most or every fashion brand out there has their own chelsea boot
also are tehse rlly that bad?? I mean idk if mango is doing some consumer tactics on me rn but the regular price for these boots are 169 and its on sale/almost low stock at 60 bucks
Nobody has ever paid 169 dollars for mango boots, it's a sales tactic
hm thought so
just wanted to make sure

Would recommend Yoox own brand over Mango
Alternatively sure you could find something from COS on sale
Of a similar vibe
ah thanks ill check them out
I'd also caveat most common recommended brands like Meermin or Beckett Simons (sic) do dress footwear. Not the casual Chelsea boot style to you're looking for.
Grenson may as they tend to be more fashion forward than most. But people often poo poo them, going "they were better back in the day".
oh ok

also isnt suede bad in ther ain?
*8rain
anyways thanks for all the help guys im getting sleepy from all this shoe search
ill check my local goodwill tomorrow
good night/good morning to u all
Honestly ppl think suede is bad through ignorance
Just slap some suede waterproofer on it and you'll be fine
I used to have workboots in rough out (simplistically they're thicker suede) and they took a lot beating and fluids on them
what kinda fluids 👉 👈 😳
Yeah I don't think those blunnies are even suede either, just nubuck / top grain leather. Will be perfectly fine in the rain. Get a tube of nikwax to spray on them
Docs are fine for their price. And they look good. What else is there for $140 USD?
IDK what they cost in the US, but Solovairs are like 20 quid more and made in the UK
okay wait just get these docs https://www.drmartens.com/uk/en_gb/church-hair-on-cow-print-platform-boots-jersey/p/31086934

Made in England docs are £220 GBP retail, damn
They’re $50 more here and less available with less variety
I own both and honestly they feel the same
Plus when you wear solovairs people come up to you saying “nice Docs” and you have to explain why they’re not docs
Suede is NOT Delicate
Myth: suede is delicate.
I don’t know how the myth got started, it’s entirely false. Real suede is an incredibly durable leather. It doesn’t show surface scratches or stains very much. It can get literally soaked and bounce right back. It’s incredibly easy to care for; it’s receptive to neglect and papering.
Oak Street Bootmakers +7yrs of wear
...
I aint explaining shit
is vagabond a good shoe brand?
i saw some boots
Does anyone have experience with meermin chelsea boots? How are they?
Meermin is a solid brand
