Bulk Plugin Installing
Does anyone have a method of bulk plugin installing and/or updating? I am currently on a linux system and have a list of plugins I want to add so, as tiring as it is to download files on linux, I would like to find a method of automating plugin updates. I did find a service called autoplug but after looking into it, I'm quite skeptical of it. It seems to have very questionable security.

Use spiget
Spiget not spigot
Or use hanger or modrinth api
would you be able to help me install spiget or provide any documentation? I tried looking it up and there isnt much tutorial wise
tbh automatically updating plugins are bad
you might break something unknowingly
plugins are bound to remove features as they expand
do you have a server on your own main machine?
yeah thats true
yeah
im new to linux
ive been windows hosting for a couple years now
wait, you're hosting this server?
on cloud?
but im getting the hang of it, i've been at it all day
no my own pc
on my own network
hmm i think you should install a desktop environment, if it makes it even a little easier
yeah i've just heard those use up more resources and i switched to linux to maximize available resources
it honestly hasnt been bad at all
ive been sending my files over through scp (not containment protocol)
i think you should actually head the way you're heading rn... unless you have another machine with a desktop environment, windows is a bit better if you want to do management
windows with putty/winscp
ohhh yeah i have two PCs one for server and one for gaming n such
one on linux one on windows
Seems like a waste to me.
They can just connect to it using an sftp client from their desktop to put their server files on there without too much cli fuckery
yeah, i made that suggestion thinking he only had 1 machine
yeah ive got most of my files ready to go i just have to import all of my plugins with windows' built in scp command its super convenient
As a note, you can put updated plugin jars into the "update" folder (inside the plugins folder) and it'll update on next reboot
automatically? what handles that?
Paper does
we have to create the folder ourselves, right?
Yes
oh sick i didn't even know about that
Yeah very underground feature
so i put the ones i want to update in there
I've been using it myself recently
So like if you wanted to update geyser
You take the new geyser jar and put it in the folder named "update" in the plugins folder
makes getting rid of the fawe update messages a little easier (i still want the update messages though)
do you know of any vault alternatives or if the old vault jar still works on modern servers
On next server start, it'll replace the old jar with the new jar
it still works
Vault still works
vault is a g
it won't update unless there's a really good need to
thank god for this discord server, i got so worried when the subreddit went dark
such as a new bukkit update which breaks the functioning of vault (impossible, bukkit won't update something important like that)
Something would have to fundamentally change for vault to need to update
bukkit doesn't receive any changes, just updates to modern versions
hmm yea
lol
still though trying to make a feature work with every modern version in existence is a pain
honestly just depend on other plugins and let the other plugins decide the version compatibility for your plugin
I would also recommend not doing auto updates, I tried looking into that as well but yeah some of the plugins I use just add features and auto-enable them so without knowing which plugins were updated when it makes it much more tedious and creates more work than it solves
autoupdating is bad for other reasons than that
