How do i setup my domains DNS correctly to work with my server?
hello its been about a day and a half since i have setup the DNS that should allow users to join my server using the domain i ow, but after a day in a half it still hasn't worked.
is this setup shown in the image done right and am i missing anything?

do u own port 25565 (are u using a host or selfhosting)
yeah im just using the default minecraft java port 25565

else just fix ur config
Do A Record mc.subdomain to ip
and domain with srv record to right port
he owns 25565
no point in making a srv record

25577 is the default bind of proxies
could just be a messed up config
but if not then yes srv is the answer

it was the cheapest, tried namecheap first but there site literally doesnt work
worked for my 5 domains

im to assume it isnt a config issue as nycto.net:25577 works, is this correctly done? the guide im reading is not the most well written lmao

well config issue was if u actually owned port 25565
and proxy usually just bind to 25577 unless u manually change port
i have found two port related things in the config they both have different ports so im a bit confused
im to assume this is another 24+ hour wait to take effect aswell?
would be a minute if u transfer dns to cloudflare

oh, i did not notice you already chagned the name of the srv thing
so far has not worked but i will keep waiting, just putting my configuration here incase i have infact done something wrong

its usually 5 minutes with cloudflare
but u can get unlucky and it takes up 24 hours

nycto.net to work? if not ill survive with mc.nycto.netcreate a A record with the name '@' and set in the SRV record the domain name like you did

@Deleted User reminding you (you may already know) that squarespace is acquiring google domains soon so you will manage DNS on their site when that happens

hopefully its a decent site, i found google domains too basic and cloudflare feels a bit too much

nycto.net stillTTL should be 1h for best results
and it takes usually in my experience 1h to update/register with google domains

so for me mc.nycto.net works and nycto.net returns unknown host.
but for one of my friends its the opposite and nycto.net works and mc.nycto.net says unknown host
is this just an effect of it still swapping over or have i broken smthin :why:no, it shouldnt be doing that and its likely just sorting itself out

it appears everyone but me can join using nycto.net
for me only mc.nycto.net worksmake sure you arent using a vpn and try restarting your router with the RESET button. This will reload all the DNS settings for your home wifi
and should resolve the issue
