Alden LHS Sizing
Can those of you with LHS tell me your Brannock size and LHS size? I'm not sure I have mine nailed down. I'm an 11D brannock and the best fitting LHS I have are 9.5B/D, but they feel a bit narrow in the toe box and are a bit uncomfortable after wearing for over an hour or so. I'm surprised at how much I had to size down but I tried on 11, 10.5, and 10 (all B/D) and I get heel slip with them, whereas the 9.5B/D feel great in the heel. Makes me think my proper size is 9.5C/E?

I went down a full size. 8.5d to 7.5d. But most folks go half down
Going from 11 down to 9.5 feels like far too much. Van last tends to have fairly wide heels imo so perhaps that’s it but I suspect your brannock is wrong
(forgive the yee yee socks I was buying cleats when I took these)
I don't know why 9.5 feels better in the heel than 10 or 10.5. Maybe it's just the wide heel of the van last as you suggest
Ah looks like your feet are narrow so that’s probably it. No idea how your toes survive in a 9.5 tho
so you think instead of a 9.5C/E I should try something like a 10A/C?
I was surprised at how "right" the 9.5 felt, the front of my foot doesn't feel cramped in length, only in width
Would certainly be worth a shot if you can find them! Like I said most folks take a half size down for Van last
10.5 D HTB, 11 C HTT on Brannock.
Sizing down to a 10 D is mostly fine, although my instep can get sore after a few hours.
10E brannock -> 10.5D LHS. If you have a shops nearby your best bet is trying different sizes. I find van to be a generous last but the instep at the strap is a problem for a lot of people.
11B brannock, 10.5C in almost every Alden last except Barrie and Leydon
Even Aberdeen?
I did try on an 11, 10.5, 10, and 9.5 (all B/D) at a local shop and the 9.5 felt the best and was the only one without heel slip
It does feel slightly cramped at my toes (though they are not being smushed into each other)
Line up the widest part of your foot with the widest part of the shoe and then adjust for width by going +- a size or up/down a width. Some heel slip is to be expected on a new pair as the sole is stiff and won’t flex with your foot until broken in. You don’t want to flip out of the shoe but you need some slippage.
Especially Aberdeen
I'll try that, ty for advice
Wild. I feel like Aberdeen is aggressively TTS
im a 7D and i got a 7D in LHS but i should have gotten 6.5. I put an insole in. I have a 7D in aberdeen and 6.5D barrie. Im also a 8D in vans/nike and a 40 in other things
