ebb42 adxl345 error

Idoing an ACCELEROMETER_QUERY i get the error Invalid adxl345 id (got ff vs e5). now what i found is the say ìts almost allways the wiring now its not thw wiring in my case seeing its on the ebb42. So does it have to be the USB cable or is there another reason? i'll try another cable but I don't think thats the problem. Just tried MEASURE_AXES_NOISE and it responds so does that mean its working.
