RatOS uses toolboards via USB, it's plug and play. U2C isn't needed.
Please read the documentation: https://os.ratrig.com/docs/configuration/toolboards
Toolboard Configuration | RatOS
RatOS supports multiple toolboards connected via USB. They can be flashed initially through the configurator, and will automatically get flashed when klipper is updated. To configure your toolboard, you need to uncomment your board and features in the toolboard section in printer.cfg near the bottom, just before the user overides section.

ok thanks
obviously still needing to provide 24v power tho
i can recommend https://3do.eu/cables/803-1240-3do-high-temperatur-usb-a-usb-c-cable-fepsilicone.html#/154-usb_cable-1m but any USB-C cable will do, some will last longer than others. A good braided usb 3.1 cable will last forever, if you tie it down properly at the tool head.
Yes you still need 24V power. 3 cables, instead of 4 with CAN.

3DO High Temperatur USB A - USB C Cable (FEP+Silicone)
Since we couldn't find a satisfactory USB cable on the market (that meets the requirements for 3D printers), we decided to make our own.1x Twisted data pair 28AWG, 2x Power wire 24AWG, 1x Drain / ground wire FEP jacket with an additional silicone outer jacket Graphene EMI isolation Outside diameter 4mm ± 0,10 Temperature rating 200C

What I need to find is a good 90 degree cable
or get rid of that cable chain

but i worked so hard on it
sunk cost fallacy
This isn't gonna work regardless. You need heavy strain relief at the connector or that USB-C port will die. Your molex wires will die too. This is not how you do cable chain wire management btw, you need to tie down all cables at both ends of the chain.
I generally don't recommend cable chains (i used to run them myself), it's unnecessary additional weight and it's much tougher on your wires.
A simple umbilical with a piano wire is superior.
And it looks pretty sweet with the nice bow 🙂

what size piano wire ?
1.0 for 500, 0.8 for 400, 0.6 for 300 or something like that

Thank you so much for this! I have spent 3 days trying to get CAN to work. I just ran downstairs and plugged a usb-a to c cable in, and ran through the config again. It now recognizes my board, flashed it and everything is working. Literally took me 15 minutes!
And that's why i chose USB. 😄
You can still use CAN though, there's nothing preventing you from setting it up like on every other klipper installation, but USB is natively supported in RatOS.
