video playing glitchy v 1.0.213 on quest 2
video thumbnails problem on v 1.0.213
1. it mistakenly mixes the thumbnails between files with each other.
2. it can't generate them.
3. it generated incorrectly
also video files are playing slow and glitchy and overlay videos are glitchy.

Can I ask you to try versions 1.0.187 and 1.0.188? We have a suspicion that this may be a result of the change of 1.0.188.
I've tried several versions.
and that's what i found:
i think the last working version was
v 1.0.176.
and the thumbnails problem started with
version 1.0.177 and all other versions I have tried after that (encloding v 187 , 188 , 213 , 214 ,215 ) have the same problem.
interesting, thank you! That can be helpful
Thank you so much for the detailed examination! Can I ask, have you tried 1.0.0? how does that compare?
Couldn't help but notice the black empty video thumbnail, the first in your list in the 1.0.213 video. It isn't there in 1.0.172. Is that meant to be there? did you add another video?
Actually, I haven't used V 1 so much because it hasn't passthrough.
But I have tried v 1.0.0 right now,
and the thumbnail issue is there and I noticed maybe worse compared to all other versions, especially the video playing is very glitchy .
Yes, some video thumbnails are black, even in the working versions like 172 , i think it could not generate them.
issues on 1.0 suggest it's the gamma colorspace rather than the switch to vulkan 🤔 interesting
I wonder if it's on the fly linear to gamma conversion that's causing the hitching
Is the one with a black thumbnail a real video though? does it load when you click it?
I suspect "videos being glitchy" is a different bug to "wrong thumbnails". It would probably be best to have a separate issue for each
yes it loads and plays withouth problem
Can you DM one of us an example of a video that displays a black thumbnail?
And regarding glitchy playback - is it consistent for some clips and not others? Or does it affect all clips?
There is no problem with playing one video
The glitchy starts after opening more than one video, especially with the wrong thumbnails, like what happened at the end of my video here.
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/KbHBd1uPXyU?feature=share
Therefore, I think it's a thumbnail problem in the first place.
So I can see three possibilities:
1. Videos are sometimes glitchy but it's random
2. Videos that display the wrong thumbnail are the ones that play with glitches
3. Glitchy playback is related to having multiple videos open at once
Any idea which of those we can eliminate?
I know that playing lots of videos will probably glitch out. But I'm not sure what the definition of "lots" is.
i think 2.
because i have tried to open multiple videos (more than 10 4k videos ) with no issue at all
So - is the "wrong thumbnail" issue related to specific videos? Can you give me steps I can follow that will always reproduce the problem?
Like I said here.
There are 3 kinds of problems with video thumbnails on v 1.0.213 (actually all versions after v 176 that I tried at least on my quest 2 have the same problem).
1. mistakenly mix the thumbnails between files with each other.
2. some file couldn't be generated (black)
3. some generated incorrectly
and you can see that in the 2 videos I have already posted
Comparing the same video files between two versions
v 213
v 172
Unless I misunderstand you - that just restates what we already established. I asked:
Is the "wrong thumbnail" issue related to specific videos? Can you give me steps I can follow that will always reproduce the problem? My next step will be to reproduce the problem so I want to know what steps to follow before I start blindly trying out different things with different videos.
all of them
all the files have wrong thumbnail .
it's not related to specific videos ( at least on my quest 2 and i don't know if that is a general issue with others or just on my quest )
all of them have the wrong thumbnailCrikey. They really do. I wasn't expecting the problem to be this obvious! @water10fall quick update. We've narrowed this down to a specific release so we know where to start looking for the cause.
