Skew on lower layers plus same height layer offset

So, i am just calibrating the Minion, and everything went pretty well so far. As the last step, i used the calibration cube Voron style by the integrated SS function. The first one was printed with stealthchop enabled, and had this skew on the lower side plus those two layer offset further to the top. I then turned off stealthchop, because i thought this could be the culprit. It turned out, even under the microscope, the two prints look exactly the same 😅 checking the calibration prints i did so far, i can't see the skew error on these. For the offset in the higher layers, i have no prints that went that high though. The grub screws are all fastened and tension is good btw. it is not htat visible in the picture because of the angle, but the skew is actually the exact same on both of them. Any ideas anybody?

yeah, i think the problem maybe more serious than i thought 😬 even though the grub screws are really tight when i test them, maybe those self-ground-down stepper shafts are actually a problem... It also maybe the stepper motors i use which are not the original ones, although they should be more powerful and are setup with a calculator and basically higher power than the original ones... i am really at a loss here

it seems as if the lower speed areas are not/less affected. so there's that. i will re-check the pulleys tomorrow

That really looks to me like something is slipping (Probably pulleys or print surface), rather than the any problem with the steppers. Steppers skipping steps would result in very sharp shifts with straight layers in between, not a smoothly varying skew like you have on your benchy.

yeah... it turned out that even though i tightened everything by the book at the beginning, aafter a few calibration prints one of the belt-clamps skipped 2 teeth and a pulley lost grip aswell. redid all that today, also installed pam yesterday night, but now the printer always complains about "Probe triggered prior to movement" so i could not test the result of my fixes yet. will look into it tomorrow. Thanks for answering 🙂

Check your probe wiring

Wiring was perfect - to make sure i redid it anyway. turns out that was a waste of time - one of the gearbox pulley of the belted-z mod got loose too, and because of the play when going changing directions, the system registered there's a discrepancy between readout and movement commands. it all comes down to the pulleys and belt apparently, they were absolutely firm when i built it, i am sure of that. but apparently even the test prints on this machine were enough to shake loose a lot of stuff. learned the lesson - locktite it was this time when i had to dismantle that thing AGAIN 😅
