Okay just to confirm, that's the bug that is fixed by the test build listed here? https://discord.com/channels/783806589991780412/806934697237938216/1025178592180699216
Thanks for trying out the forums too 😄
Will check Again Mike. I was using experimental beta yesterday and that's what I got. Forgot you had a separate build. Think that went out when I was hunkering down for hurricane Ian. My head was not in creator mode at the time.
@mikesky so sorry I didnt check this one....the fixgammavulkan is much better. Do you know when it'll be pushed to replace the beta experimental?
This is the same in the FIX but used experimentals. Had to replace pic 2 with default brushes (orig TB brushes) and use the Official Steam build for that one for yesterdays post. You can now see the differences between the 3. Slight difference in lighting is on my part with the colors.
Thanks for testing! It’s all good to go, but unfortunately we’re blocked by an oculus bug and they aren’t being very cooperative about getting it fixed 😦
ugh frustrating. The CS there is bad need more peeps.
Hey mike is there a way to just add the experimentals to the main steam build so we can record with no color issues for now or would the bug affect the original steam version?
Oh, that's what was defecting my latest video..
@mikesky The build you wanted me to try for the color changes has the bug that occurs where when you put down your headset and walk away from it the controllers are no longer there and to not reappear when you hit the menu buttons. Just wanted to let you know in case this particular build gets pushed out.
If you mean this special build, we won't be doing that I'm afraid as it's hardwired into our build pipeline, you would have to wait until it's merged or use the official release. The way the build pipeline works means that the batch script that powers offline rendering would be broken regardless of whether the special build was distributed through steam or not, it's got a different app name
I think this may be SteamVR related, what version is that on for you?
@mikesky This is the build with the controller bug once the headset becomes inactive https://nightly.link/merulaxr/open-brush/workflows/build/fix%2Fgamma-vulkan
Right, but I haven't touched anything to do with input on the PCVR side there, so is it happening on other builds?
Not happening with other builds. It has happened before on the beta build but Andy fixed it. Awhile back
Just to clarify, i meant your SteamVR version!
as in, SteamVR itself, not open brush
Beta experimental
Sorry again, I mean the version of SteamVR the application that powers any VR, not just Open Brush. This version:
it's in the little box that shows you headset status etc
Will have to check in@a couple of hrs technically not up yet lol
Sure thing
It’s 5am
Yeah I did wonder why you were up to be honest 😆
Lol
I’ll post as soon as I’m conscious. 🤣
@mikesky V 1.0.167 Good Morning BTW...lol
know youre prob having lunch now....
Morning, that's an Open Brush version again though! 😆 I need the steamVR version, which will definitely be a 1.20-something like my picture above
THats steam vr
right from steam
Not the one downloaded out of steam but directly on steam when you check the beta
Ignore open brush for now, it's not Open Brush I'm asking about
are you asking about the vulkan one?
Nope, no open brush
I'm asking about Steam itself
ok hang a sec.
You have way too many builds....gets confusing. ok the build that you wanted me to test that fixed the color issue and also has the bug where when remove the headset and put it back on the controllers no longer work is: 0.2.266
For my dailies I normally use the OB Official Release used to use 1.0.167 for experimental beta and am now using 0.2.266 because of the color issues with experimental beta.
SteamVR 1.24.6
Ah thanks, that's the one! 😄 Sorry about that
Yeah sometimes it's not always Open Brush that's the issue, and especially with Input we've got to look at other things, sometimes steamVR itself.
Im thinking steam version of the build because I also have the oculus one too
Yeah I figured that might be the crosstalk, sorry again! 😅
no worries....we worked it out
So when you're using Open Brush on your PC, are you using an Oculus headset?
yes
Okay, again another quick favor, could you launch the oculus desktop app, and go to settings -> general, and take a screenshot of the app please?
sure can
Ooh okay, so when you launch Open Brush special version, does SteamVR launch at all? usually you can see if it has because this app will appear on your taskbar
yes I always launch oculus for air link first then go to steam to open the app directly there
steam vr opens
Are you selecting this tickbox when you launch it?
It has automatically opened for me
no check boxes
the special build I sent would auto open, but that even happens for ones you launch through Steam?
yes
just tested now and it did it again
oh yeah I see now, yeah beta-experimental won't show that checkbox (incidentally you've helped me confirm something that steamVR was doing in the background!)
Right, so this may be confusing but even though you're launching through Steam, it's actually using the Oculus version of OpenXR 😅 now that I know your setup I'll hopefully be able to debug further
ok great. thanks for your help and sorry for any confusion.....got lots of stuff here!
which is good too!
That's why I wanted your Oculus settings heh
ahhhhhh
Yeah, and I'm sorry about the amount of builds. once v2.0 is out me and Andy really want to thin these down to help both us and you with debugging!
that would be awesome...it would be really helpful if there were only a couple to choose from. Right now you have enough for every member of the UN .... jk jk 😉 😄
only means your productive and truly appreciate what you all are doing.
Youve done so much good with OB
Thanks for the kind words ❤️ and thank you for putting up with us for relentless test builds!
No worries at all!
Heyo! I think I've cracked the Quest issues! Builds are generating now, I'll let you know when we're good to test!
