I would guess that focus was put on global release and so NE stopped working on the desert mode.

WB started claiming copyright and blocked some of the new features/updates that NE had planned to implement (riding a thunderbird, a fire dwelling salamander clue and beast to rescue). There was a lot of backlash from players over the mode’s design too.

I think they were trying to integrate the fantastic beasts mode with the pets but they stopped updating the mode so 🤷🏻‍♀️

But we did have some of the fantastic beasts from the desert as pets but they are separate from the desert mode.

They could rework it so that they are together but we don’t know for sure. It would be better to ask for the pets specifically if that’s what you are wanting cause desert fantastic beasts≠ pets.
