designing system with consumption of 960mA. Would a regulator with rating of 1A be sufficient?
Given the maximum current consumption as 960mA, I will say you should use an IC regulator a little higher than 1A, because the efficiency of the IC might not be 100 percent and there might be some voltage drop and fluctuations in the system.
