Am I doing too much on my portfolio?
Hey guys, I thought it would be a really cool idea to make my portfolio kind of like Figma since I work in it a lot as a ui dev. I just don't know if it would be too much for a portfolio. I wanted to kind of have some bubble underneath the heading that like shows the css selectors, and when you hold alt over an item it shows the css properties or something

I will say... it will get attention people tend to like working clones of things as websites lol
I've see people rave about others doing like windows desktops etc as their folios.
Personally I don't like it but I wouldn't knock you if it was yours
lol I was thinking that too like 'is this too unoriginal' but like, I think it encapsulates my experience / what i do everyday really well
if done well it will be well received
yea i was trying to find other designs on dribbble and other sites but they're just too much man haha
they're either cringey awwwards sites or just boring
mostly boring lol
same ol layouts all over
You can see why I did mine how I did... 😂
I do kinda lean on older layouts that had big headers though (back in my day the trend)
i think big headers are kinda cool too i just cant get them to look right lol
I could also just skip the sidebar thing and just have similar functionality of figma where like you hold alt on something and it shows the distance / margin
have some little chat bubble or thing in the bottom that says 'hold alt to show x,y,z' type of thing too
ofc wouldnt work on mobile would be a desktop only thing
I'd either go all in or not
so yes sidebar
or two
I say go big or go home. If your sole purpose of doing this is for job applications, I’m not sure recruiters will care because they’re kind of shallow sadly. But more power to you if you can think out of the box
Oh yea I don't think it'll matter too much but hopefully if even one person sees it and likes it then it gives me an interview maybe
If not it'll be fun, my current portfolio is really bland https://vincecorradetti.com
Don’t say aspiring designer
You’re limiting yourself
You are a designer
Same with your new one, I’d change it to “nerd with experience building…” remove “a few years of”
probably going to build this out as is

that was fun
