Why does virtual camera look so different than the actual camera in OBS?

In OBS the virtual camera seems to have a lot more contrast and colors are more vibrant than the actual camera selection. I'm using the exact same profiles and settings in the software for the camera. All I'm doing is switching the device in OBS itself and it looks dramatically different. Is there a reason for this?

Virtual camera applies effects from software provided by manufacturer.

@Gene and the normal camera doesn't apply the effects at all? Meaning like the ones you set in the software like contrast, white balance, etc?

Looks like that

Yes that's correct, the virtual camera device gets the filters and such from their software, while the regular camera device does not

Oh poop. So no matter what I put in the software it won't show up with the regular camera device? That's interesting. I always thought the virtual camera was just a way to send the camera to two different sources at once. Well now I know I guess

Technically it supports that, but like you've seen only the virtual device will get the filters and such You're not really going to get that kind of dual-device functionality out of a webcam, that's normally a thing some capture cards do
