3 piece suit design for wedding - lapel on waistcoat?
I'm having a suit made for my wedding and I'm sort of undecided on whether I should get a lapel on the waistcoat, and if so what kind.
I'm doing a 3 piece navy suit with a very subtle windowpane patterned S140 wool. SB 2 button jacket with peak lapel, DB 8 button waistcoat.
On the one hand, having the lapel on the waistcoat will make it look better on it's own, as I'm sure I'll be taking off the jacket at the reception. On the other, I wonder if it might make the complete suit too busy.
Thanks!
Edit: dress code is formal. I am the groom. Late summer, indoor, afternoon wedding.

Well of course it’s up to you but I would keep it simple. As you mentioned, a lapel on the waistcoat can look like a lot with the jacket on top, especially for a summer wedding.
Do you have inspo pics?
I wouldn’t design the waist coat for the reception. Your fancy pics and stuff are going to be in the full suit during the ceremony and photo session.
The reception is for having fun and partying. The lapel doesn’t matter
Looking at some inspiration was pretty helpful. I'm leaning towards getting peak lapels on the waistcoat. Some photos I saw of double breasted waistcoats without lapels look rather drab
i don't think anyone would have any qualms about you taking your suit jacket off when dancing at your own wedding
it's a matter of preference; i would go without bc, short of overheating, i wouldn't wear the vest/pants alone
