Rain coats
Curious if there are rain coats that exist in the middle ground somewhere between a waxed jacket and full-on gorp? I've got a barbour and an Arc'teryx I use for camping/backpacking

Aware this is super vague, please don't smite me qnaers
Theres clear ponchos done by some designers recently, idk if that's what you want but it's an idea
I think I'd want zip up with a hood... Realizing a stutterheim or something could work
I’d say an anorak is pretty much midway between those two
Oh i cant read lol
I mean I think the reality is either it's gonna be techy (doesn't need to be super expensive arc) or waxed cotton, or a poncho of some kind
I'm told people don't use umbrellas where you live but like
Oh the real answer is a trench coat
But those aren't hooded
Umbrella are just super inconvenient is the issue
How bout like a fishtail parka?
Are they actually water wicking? I thought they were like fabric
I think they are more water resistant and wouldnt fair well in anything above a light rain
I think if you want something for heavy rain its gonna be hard to not move to far into gorp tech
Yea I guess I've got some homework. I might just have to find something in a more muted tone. Seems like everyone wants to do neon colors
rains, too! they are fine for use in the city and just generally being out and about.
I like stutterheim! Their light raincoat in particular
DWR coatings can make fabrics water resistant. There’s a bunch of them out there.

Men’s Pathfinder Jacket | Jackets by Outback Trading Company
The Pathfinder Jacket is a fantastic take on traditional western style coats. With waterproof oilskin and pockets o’ plenty, you can’t go wrong.
Those are my two recs
They’re both great
The Outback trading one is interesting in that it’s actually fully waterproof
Oilskin don’t fuck around
@rej look for stuff with ventile cotton. Barbour did collabs with baracuta (Harvard jacket) and Kapitan sunshine (traveler coat) that would be up your alley
I think you want ventile cotton like Private White VC uses a lot
