I need a doctor! (M.D. optional)
Feel like it's time for me to do a fit doctor thread. Been really enjoying wearing milsurp, western, and punk-ish? fits, but I'm hitting a bit of a wall and I'd like a push in the right direction.
Some thoughts about what I've been wearing:
*Lacking in accessories (Maybe a bucket hat, no idea on sunglasses, bags, or jewelery)
*Went way too hard on Uniqlo blanks, need some cooler tees
*Love earth tones, but i could probably venture outside greens and browns a bit more
*Need to take better fit pics :brick:"
Some of my favorite inspo from here

Stuff that I like but just isn't quite hitting like I want it to:

Bricks:

1: Don't think the shoes work here, and I think this might be too slim of a cut for me
2: Plain khaki shirt is kinda boring, and it just feels like there isn't much going on
3: Wanted to do something simple, but it's just missing anything interesting outside of the shirt
1: Jacket is too small, not sure what else is wrong
2: Shorts suck (quality wise), but I do like the fatigue style pockets on the nylon. I think the shoes feel a bit disconnected from the top half?
3: Loafers, untucked tank, and the shorts are too slim I think
4: Hate the way the cut of the pants looks with the shirt
big picture view i think there's a maybe unreported or unseen element of gorp influence - the techy belt, the rain jackets, the sneakers, even the fatigues/cargos, even the desire for a bucket hat - in your inspiration and fits (even your bricks) which might be worth exploring if not already.
if you're curious this is a really good thread about integrating gorp, as well as seeing fits in #waywt from jediwaffles, TheComebackKid, Mosh and others (Dev of course, tman916, stmn, sometimes rej)

imo the aesthetics you favor - milsurp, western, punk - all benefit from visual detail, be it pattern or wear or interesting accessories.
i'd look at the m-65 jacket and especially how it was worn by antiwar protestors (patched, pinned, painted) as it threads the needle between the punk and milsurp influences. vintage hiker/hiker trash pics might be useful to look up as they often wore double denim without looking so much like cowboys

1. agree the pants are too slim but imo the pants are too long as well
2. again, pants are too long/cuff is too big imo
3. i don't mind this lol; if you wanted to punch it up throw on a necklace but i don't see anything wrong with a simple fit to live your life, even if it's not going to make highlights here

1. agree on the jacket plus i'd switch out the belt, maybe for the seat buckle one
2. honestly i don't hate this lol especially if it was an intentionally casual fit. more interesting sneakers might help (xt-6s) or a hat but imo this isn't a "brick" so much as "just clothes"
3. yeah the shorts are not great and imo i'd favor a different/more substantial overshirt
4. imo the shirt is too short (or small) independent of the jeans. i could see stacks working in a fit like this with different shoes, or elsewearing those shoes with different pants (maybe the gramiccis or the fatigues)
in general i think your pants may be a little long (and as you note, the fits could benefit from more interesting accessories or variations) but beyond that it's a matter of the pairing of the items. the good fits here https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1358056583904362595/1358057032808398980 all make sense in terms of what items are paired together - gorpy stuff with sneakers, more traditional stuff with loafers, etc - and i think the fits that aren't as successful would benefit from shuffling some of the things around
ya the pants are what I noticed — the cuffs feel a bit tapered and stand out with your inspo usually having no cuffs and a break onto the shoes.
Omg my mom is inspo now
Her fit is last year's zara
Re: #1 I literally remember thinking when you posted this “this is perfect aside from the shoes” haha. Feel like they’re just a little too visually busy for the rest of it, and maybe a little too chunky for the cut of the pants.
Hadn't even noticed that, thanks for pointing it out!
Definitely more gorp in my fits than I was really realizing. Hadn't looked at that integrating gorp thread since I first joined, getting a lot more out of it now. Glad you brought it up
