Pregen misunderstanding
Hello I have a quick question
I have pregenerated 400 chunk radius from my base, with DH installed in my server, with the INTERNAL_SERVER generation mode
Now I logged into the server but I don't see the 400 chunks generated, either the LOD or the normal ones
There's probably something I didn't understood about the pregeneration method, what can I do ? My goal is to have the highest LOD range possible without needing to explore them by myself

the chunks also need to be send to the client, which can take some time
does f3 say "server has full DH support"?
ok good to know, i guess i have to go AFK in my server then ? btw its been some hours and i still don't feel my LOD viewing range is increasing
here's what i have in the F3 menu

/slowgen
World generation in general is quite slow, if you want to speed it up:
Install Noisium, Lithium and C2ME(DH 2.3.0+). These mods can improve generation speed by a bit, but it will still not be fast.
Increase
CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)try the wireframe thingy
thatll tell you what chunks the client is currently requesting from the server
if you dont see wireframes in the distance, then it is probably not working
can you be more explcite I don't understand
in which case, make sure distant generation is on on both the server and client
Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering and Show World Gen Queue to True. Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)
this is what i can see in the distance, i'm not sure but it doesn't look normal

since it would be more logical to request nearby LOD instead of the far away ones
my LOD render distance setting is at 1024 btw
@Puhpine (GMT +1)
hmmm
what if you rejoin?
trying that now
Reduce GUI size and send F3 screen again. There's a counter in there that shows number of successful LOD requests, but it's cut off in your earlier screenshot
And maybe send client /logs
You should send your
latest.log
file to provide additional useful information.
Logs are usually located in the .minecraft/logs
directory.
On Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\logs
On Linux: ~/.minecraft/logs
On Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/logs
Please upload the file to mclo.gs instead of sending the raw file. This makes reading the contents of the file a lot easier and improves the chances of you getting the help needed.
After uploading the file, click on Save
and send the link.i'll see for the logs

nothing now (i've checked, the wireframe option is still enabled)

0 requests sent, 0 completed, and 0 failed
Looks like it's in the middle of login sync in that screenshot
Stay online for at least a few minutes, then send another screenshot
during that time i tried to tweak some settings from the config file, server side, like the maxDataTransferSpeed from 500 to 0

and now I can see LODs starting to load

(btw i started a pregen)
Looks like it's working. Around 9000 requests completed successfully
0 failures
good then, idk which one of the settings that i've tweaked made this to work, but at least it's working
thanks for your help
It should do this right out of the box, but depending on your CPU, plus CPU preset and quality setting in the DH config, processing and rendering the received LODs might take some time. You can toggle back and forth between vanilla and DH by disabling "distant generation" in Dh's settings. You should be able to tell if you can see further or not
I'm a barbarian i've put every settings to the max

server side also
since i'm currently in the process of generating a nice lod viewing distance than actually playing, in a server we're already settled in
right now I can't tell any difference when I toggle on and off the distant generation
maybe because it's far enough that I can't be able to notice the difference

Ah, well this is definitely much farther than vanilla :)
