v-core 4 dragging nozzle through print
I've built a ratrig v-core 4 IDEX and have mostly completed the commissioning guide. Mostly, the printer appears to be working. Problems arise however, when I start printing.
The first layer goes down a treat and the second one looks OK too. But after that, the printer appears to be dragging the nozzle through the print. I can see the lower layers compress as the nozzle is laying down the next one. After stopping the print, I can see nozzle shaped indents all over the last layer.
I figured maybe something is wrong with a Z axis multiplier of some sort. But when moving the build plate 100mm up or down and measuring with a ruler, the movement distance appears correct.
Any ideas what's going wrong or what I could try to debug this?

Sounds like overextrusion.
Someone at the local hackerspaces suggested that, too. The first layer looks just fine though.
If the first layer is too high, and the overextrusion is making up for it...
Setting extrusion factor to 80% did indeed improve things. Could an explanation be that I selected the wrong extruder in the set-up wizzard? How can I check what I selected after the fact? And what might be the correct choice? I got the pre-configured set.
Found it in the RatOS.cfg. Says it's orbiter 2 extruders. I think that should be correct. I remember reading something like that on the packaging and googling Orbiter 2, that looks like what I have...
did you do the "100mm" test? measure and mark a line a bit over 100mm away from the extruder, command it to move 100mm, make sure the mark moved that much
from what I've read one should NOT have their extrusion multiplier that far from 100%
My extrusion multiplier usually ranges from 85-95% depending on filament.
80% is likely too low.
Now this is a bit embarrassing... but it turns out the problem was that I had the wrong size of nozzle configured. I had 0.6 installed but 0.4 configured. Changing this fixed the issues. Unsurprisingly.
ooh, several people have had that happen to them. Glad you figured it out!
That’ll do it lol
