Help with loafers?

Hey guys I'm going for it! I want black leather loafers for spring summer, I'm in Canada so I'm limited in some of the stuff I can get/try on - I found a boutiqe store in canada that I can check out - they have the following brands - I'm wondering if you know any of them and can help me narrow down the search Moma - made in italy, but little else info on how the loafers are constructed Camper and CamperLAB - not sure about these, but there are various design options Grenson - made in the UK

They've got paraboot and Alden but it's about 2x my budget rn Sorry paraboot can be a stretch budget for me, I'll look into it

ahh yeah could just be something to check out and try on to get a vibe of what sizing and vibes you are looking for even if its not where you buy.

Are black loafers even something I should be considering buying?

They're cool! If you like them then sure. What makes you ask that?

Reading about it being a formality clash Not as versatile as brown suede Loafers Shouldn't be worn with white socks Etc

the most formal loafers are still very casual, so that should be fine. Also formality clash can be cool! Imo it's personal preference vs brown suede, they both look cool in different contexts. And you can wear white socks

Thanks for the insight guys I will sit with it a while longer and keep checking for inspo there's so many kinds of loafers.... i guess if i was going to get a black leather loafer - what would you say is the most versatile ? easiest to wear with pleated trouses, knit polo penny loafer? beefroll? chunky or slim sole?

imo for that pairing you cant go wrong with a classic penny, sole is preference assuming its not like crazy crazy chunky then i think it could risk coming off a bit out of place

the brands referenced in the article are all good if you're shopping online it helps to know/get your brannock measurement before trying to find stuff on ebay there is no "correct" answer - you'll have to take a leap of faith to a degree - but from what you've said black penny loafers seem like a good option
