Haggling and Questions on secondhand Sites
When shopping for stuff secondhand Im never sure if it is smarter to haggle first and ask questions later or ask questions first and only haggle once those are answered.
What are your experiences with this? How do you approacht this?

Its not a hard and fast rule and im sure the exact etiquette will vary between sites, but i like to ask questions first to make sure the product is to my specifications. Sometimes if the seller is really unresponsive or seem to deliberately avoid answering, ill skip the listing all together
Go in at 50% lower than asking and hope for the best
Depends on the question and the site but I’d say ask questions first
is this genuine advice? just asking because i never know how low is "rude"
don't do this unless you want angry messages back
yeah if you look at places where sellers ask for advice, lowballers to that degree are kind of loathed as timewasters
20% is gonna probably be the max people will negotiate for at least on poshmark and depop, you can try more like 30% but they'll probably counter pretty hard
(that's assuming the price is high enough for them to even bother haggling, some people aren't open to offers if the price is already really low)
Can personally attest to getting pissed at random chucklefucks sending a 25% offer with absolutely zero context
I'm more open to negotiating if people can reason through it more
but I set most of my stuff at 50-60% of the MSRP and usually bat below the median sell price as is so if someone still lowballs that tells me they're either a supreme cheapskate or have done no research
:caught:
i almost always hit sellers with a 25% if it’s something i could like kinda fancy, but if it something i really want i’d message first
yeah thats usually my strategy as someone who sells some stuff and also buys a decent amount
id only go more than 25% if there's some really obvious flaw in their pricing
nonono i mean they send an offer for 25% of the listed price
😭
absolutely delusional
yeah that’s bonkers
Also sellers are generally more willing to haggle if the listing has been up for an amount of time vs. Something that was Just Listed
Ah....that does change the context
