BarRaider plugin updater issues

BarRaider has begun introducing an updater mechanism into his plugins. This has broken the OBS plugin for unknown reasons in 3.3 and above, and is causing issues in the Spotify plugin due to his code trying to validate that the parent process is ESD, when there actually is no parent process in Wine. I'm opening this thread to track this issue

@Dem I think we really need to start making Linux builds of these now As for Spotify, if I ever get time I'll see if I can fool it

but most are closed source aren't they, its a very grey area to distribute linux builds of those

I think only Spotify out of the relevant ones is closed? At least for OBS, it’s the most used one

apparently there's also a Elgato OBS Studio plugin 🤔 for both Windows and Mac, then it must be JS based probably - does it work under OpenDeck? Looked quickly at the barraider obs plugin source, looks portable enough but I gotta be honest I have no time in the next at least 2 months

Looks like some placeholder README, they have Linux instructions lol But it’s not JS Actually, I think that’s the OBS side though, not the Stream Deck side So maybe not open enough after all Which one were you working on before? Ah spotify

@Dem he took them all down I'll make the MPRIS plugin, that should solve the Spotify problem but it's a shame

damn... I really don't get that type of behaviour, its fine to not support it but being hostile is a different thing, reminds me of like Microsoft in the early 2000s

yea his "justification" is that opendeck users ask him for support that he doesnt want to provide but come on, he could just send them the link to this server and tell them to go away and thats only happened like twice

we just see it differently I guess

Just add a rule that's "no open deck questions" and respond with that, or just ignore them
