Hollows Leather
I have a Tanner Goods belt that I’ve owned for nearly 15 years and it’s still going strong. They’ve doubled in price since then but I’d imagine quality is still somewhat similar.
My vintage works Tokyo belt is the nicest I have owned by far
Yea I have three from tanner. I like them. They’re not fashion forward but work
I mean you asked for a plain belt with a brass buckle, theres not much that’s going to be super “fashion forward” about that

Something like this without this price
sid mashburn
These are really pretty.
They are very wonderful I honestly have no clue if they have stocklists in the us I found mine randomly at a store in Sapporo
Some of the Pacific Northwest Boot makes have expanded into belts. More towards the heavy duty side but I have 2 and they’re great.

Maybe buyee may have. I’ll check
Looks good. Any reviews on how they age
loro piana (Italian), Magnanni (Spanish), Shinola (USA)
these guys can do what you are looking for incredibly well
from what i've gathered (read: read on ask andy) the bridle and pull-up both soften well with age, though as usual you'd want to condition them periodically
fwiw i don't think loro piana is much different in price from the row
they do calfskin incredibly well
thats why I mentioned them as I have held both a belt and a leather jacket from them
im sure someone else does it as well for less than $600 loro is notoriously one of the most overpriced brands
oh for sure
you can find them used though, and shinola does the rustic leather with brass so good too
magnanni is more mid tier but I love their finishes and they are easier on maintenance
he did mention top 5% and if we are serious you might want to add them on there
Loro doesn’t own their own leather supply chain
They do knits well
Rest idk 🤷
their sweaters are their best for sure
Most likely outsourced from another brand
Yes because they’re a mill first
imo "pre aged" belts just tend to actually wear in worse than getting something new and just wearing it
Magnanni is not same tier
Is mall brand tier
true but who does marbling and leather tans better than magnanni for tans
loro sweaters are very nice for sure, still exceedingly boring for the money they are charging but thats me
Yes. Quite boring from a fashion standpoint
fair you can strike them off for that
Shinola idk. Have to look up
I wish they made a cable knit cardigan that zipped up
If you have 3k to drop you can maybe custom make
By buying their fabric
thats a good question where Loro gets their leather
because everything they have is pretty stunning for it albeit overpriced
oh ashland leather is also an option
they work directly with horween
dont own a belt but my wallet is going on 6 years and doing very well
I only found out about Loro for sweaters because someone took off theirs and showed me her cashmere one from them and I was stunned
Was this like a one night stand?
( joking but wondering how someone ends up in such a situation lol )
I flat out asked someone who showed me why they paid that much for a sweater
I live right by a gorsuch too
there are people out there that will happily show you why they pay alot for clothes like that and they can be a great resource if you dont have tons of money to play with
Yea pretty sure
If I’ve paid that much. I’m waiting for someone to ask to share my passion
if you are actually asking mostly about the leather itself, you could just look up well known high quality tanneries and just buy belts that source from those. you might not get the design you want though

no opinion on that shop/link except that they seem to have a huge variety of sources
Yes but I want an assembled piece. Not diy
Amish made belts. Hands down.
They’re too rugged
right, which is why you can either put in work to find belts that show their sources if you care that much about the leather, or pay the upcharge for a high end brand
Great though
https://lucafaloni.com/en/us/shop/black-calf-leather-belt provides leather sources for example
Luca Faloni
Black Calf Leather Belt | Luca Faloni
Our luxury men's leather belt in black is made in Italy using natural calf leather that ages beautifully and makes for a timeless accessory to match any style.
Thanks.
luca faloni makes solid stuff
not to hijack but even if magnanni is mall-tier, is it worth it at like $63? It's on sale at my employer and plus my employee discount one would come to that
100%
Uniqlo are made in Italy. Even cheaper
Most likely better leather then magnanni also
So the Uniqlo would be better even at 63 for the magnanni then?
I personally don’t like pre distressed belts. So breaking and aging wise Uniqlo will be. But Magnanni tend to be a different style usually more formal. At that price I would pick one you like. Or you can wait for tanner belt sale and you can get the random belt for 50 off at 70-90$
surprised magnanni is looked down upon
you only find them in places like nordstrom or bloomingbdales here
they are my go-to belts for jeans
Not looking down. Just preference
Everything’s perfectly ok for someone
just under uniqlo, thats a fast fashion brand

Looks decent. I’ll check it out. Thanks.
yeah no, Uniqlo's italian leather is not high quality
It's ok stuff for the price point, esp since it generally goes on sale. To their credit, it's surprisingly durable, but it's not high quality. Magnanni is definitely a step up
Watch weekly auctions on LuxeSwap or hunt for dress belts on eBay and other secondhand if you want something at a discount
Or get Beckett Simonon, RM Williams, Allen Edmonds, etc for a decent dress belt
Beckett Frl?
Good idea
I mean we're wildly vacillating between price points and discussions here. If you're looking for really high end belts, you'll probably want to dive into that niche in the menswear community on places like StyleForum. If we're just talking about decent, entry-level dress leathers that are a step above mall tier, Beckett fits that comfortably as do those other recommendations.
Thanks
Hermes own their tanneries and are famous for leather goods.
another option for high end leather is look at Japanese brands which usually source their leather from Shinki. for example: https://bears-tokyo.myshopify.com/collections/big-john
BEARS' -TOKYO-
BIG JOHN
A select shop for Japanese jeans in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo. We carry a wide range of carefully selected brands, including RESOLUTE, TCB JEANS, FULL COUNT, WARE HOUSE, ONI DENIM, tanuki, KOJIMA GENES, JAPAN BLUE JEANS, MOMOTARO JEANS, and SAMURAI JEANS.
I know. I wish I can find something reasonable from them. Their belts are perfect. A tinge too broad in width but would do
They actually import their Togo from a German tannery. Which also sells to other folks. Regardless it passes all requirements 🙂
