Blazer Jackets?
Probably a dumb question but I have a few of these so called “blazer jackets” and I know the ones I have lean more toward casual due to the materials used, patterns, and the patch pockets but why the 3 button design then? Isn’t 3 button supposed to be more formal?

howlin call it a blazer but it's a chore jacket
Yeah really these just aren’t blazers
Interesting read and about the EG jackets - the ones I have don’t have the that collar tab though
i don't think there's any historical context for a 2 button blazer/sport coat/suit jacket being more or less formal than 3 button. that said that also looks like an engineer's jacket, which will sometimes have a traditional yet super short lapel
@maybeseveralthings @oman121 got another one like this too but doesn’t seem like a chore jacket to me idk

are they structured?
the main detail that I think separates unstructured three pocket jackets into blazer vs chore coat is the curved quarters.
It kinda varies but I’d call that a chore coat or a loiter jacket. Here’s a similar example
