Which Sneakers?
Looking to get a pair of sneakers that I can walk in a ton. I'm looking at the following:
Salomon acs + og
HOKA Tor Summit
Some other 3rd shoe I've yet to discover
xt-6s are too narrow for me and I'm not super into the standard grey NBs. Looking for something with a bit more personality than that usual neo-ivy staple. I'm also indecisive.

Beans I do not think either of the shoes in these images look very good
well damn, what sneaker should I buy?
salomons the child doesnt know what he's talking about
610s look a lot like the acs without the weird toe
I’ve put about 400 running miles and about half of that again in walking/hiking on the hoka speedgoat 5 in duffel bag/ thyme (hoka color naming is stupid) and I’ve also hit highlights in them
I’m biased ofc but I love that shoe and vouch for them with my whole heart
Ever since the 6 (do not buy) came out the 5 is kind of hard to lay hands on in good cws though but not impossible
Pretty even trail/road split as well and they’ve held up nicely
This over the tor : https://www.outsidersstore.com/products/mafate-speed-4-lite-trainers-242189-cold-brew-oat-milk

I have the tor summits and they are functional in wet/snow, but I think they’re too chunky for their own good
Also the toe box is kinda narrow believe it or not
Have you considered ASICS? Kiko colourways in particular
imo the best looking Hokas are the mafate three 2s - this model has decent colorways (ik this is personal preference)

also ik you mentioned not being into standard grey NBs (i get that) but the 998s, 997s, 990v2s and 2002Rs all have awesome colorways aside from greys that look real nice (im biased toward NBs so take that with a grain of salt,) i also love your style and fits and can’t personally see any super techy shoes gelling well with what i’ve seen you post here but hey im just 1 opinion 🫶
hopefully not coming off as rude but genuinely trying to be helpful
i don’t have personal experience with walking a ton in Gel Kayano 14s but i personally like the way they look and could be worth a shot
Huh dang that kinda kills them for me then. My toebox is definitely not narrow.
I’ve looked at them a few times and it just never hits for me. I may need to just try them on but something about the details puts me off them
Some fits/vibes I’d be looking to wear sneakers in instead

I’ll check out asics again and some of the NBs. I’ve struggled in the past but I’ve also bricked a lot of sneaker purchases
No worries I appreciate it!
Let us know which route you end up going!
FWIW I went TTS for designer/leather footwear and I probably should have sized up 0.5-1 size instead. I believe the toe space will be narrow regardless though it’s pretty tight.
Thanks! I think I’m leaning to the Salomon’s anyway
@awburkey I was looking at that colorway of the Hoka Tor Summit last night and almost copped but I think that Salomon just makes better looking sneakers tbh
I feel like Gats would work so well with all those fits
that’s so true
Yeah! I already have a pair of GATs that are near end of life and I'm looking to switch it up is all
how about keen jaspers or something like that
gorpy but still low profile
Are those really comfy? They're approach shoes iirc so I didn't think they'd be ideal for lots of city walking
hard to say without trying I guess, they seem to have "citified" them "As comfortable heading to the crag as it is cruising around town. "
Hokas have too much cushion and not enough arch support for me
ooh jaspers with a comfy sole: https://www.keenfootwear.com/products/mens-jasper-zionic-safari-sky-captain

although leather/suede seems more fw than ss
oh those are kinda cool
My jaspers are probably my comfiest shoes. I like em a lot.
yes but you spend multiple hours on your (probably) very light saddle so this could still mean "they only make me bleed a little bit"
This just makes me value comfort in the rest of my life.
