search providers
Hi I want to set up my SearXNG instance as search provider, but I'm running into issues. The searchengine itself works just fine. But adding it to Homarr doesn't work as expected.
I created the Search engine in the setting as you would. I pasted in the URL search template that SearXNG provides me and hit save. The Problem is, the new search engine isn't available to select in my preferences. Also, if I do a search, I can select it as alternative search provider, but I only get redirected to the start page of my SearXNG instance. However, if I click the link in the search engines page, it works as expected and I get the results for "test" as search query.
Also, a different, unexpected problem is, due to how SearXNG handles settings, the search URL is very long. So it overshoots the allocated screen space and takes the edit and delete buttons with it.
To test, I also added ecosia as search engine provider, and it behaves exactly the same - except overshooting allocated screen space.
Am I doing something wrong here?

And ecosia does not work?
not from the search field. If I click the link in the Search engines menu, I get redirected to the results for "test" as search query. I assume that is intended
Okay interesting, when I do it locally it works with the same template that you used
Yes opening test there is intended
So when I click in the search field, I enter my search term. Then I click "search with another search engine", select the desired one, and I get redirected to the search engine. The URL in the address bar is the search URL, ending with =&q=. I don't know much about this, but if I had to guess, I'd say the search term doesn't get passed
Oh I see, I think the reason is that you are not intended to search already in the first page and rather only once you selected the other search engine
But it's definitely a bug that you get the page with no search query when you press enter in the search engine selection
Solution
You can for now enter the short form of the search engine and then enter

You mean this page? The two searxng are exactly the same. Added it twice to make sure I didn't mess up the first time, since the edit button is way off screen
Not quite, I meant the page where you can't select your default search engine. I would guess this is the user preferences?

Okay and you can't select them? Can you click on them to see if there is a dropdown?
I can't click on them. It doesn't open a drop down

you nailed it. In Brave I can select it
Okay I guess that's the problem then, click on the label above it (we currently have a bug regarding this, see https://github.com/homarr-labs/homarr/issues/2515)
