Trenchcoat: yes or no
Not sure if I look like a wannabe dictator edgelord with this trench coat or if it looks all right enough for casual/ smart casual wear
I’ll probably be wearing it with a button down shirt and tie like in the photos attached. Not sure how to style this coat casually tho

I wear a Trenchcoat almost everyday with literally everything, imo it works great for casual looks too

I think it looks good. However, I don’t think that the colors in your outfit work together. Also you should steam the trench coat, it’s very wrinkly.
Also you should tie a smaller tie knot, like the four in hand. I think it would work better for the size of your shirt collar and lean into the classic look of the trench.
hahaha yeah the second pic is when I got it new in the post the first is more recent after I did my best but the epaulettes and buttons make it really hard to iron lmao; the tie on the other hand I usually go for a full Windsor because my face is fat 💀
Any color suggestions? Should I go brighter or darker with what I wear inside? Do I need more color or less?

I still think a smaller tie knot would serve you well. I think the width of the tie blade balances the width of your face, not the size of the tie knot. But it’s personal preference.
Your current outfits colors are just very drab and it doesn’t have enough contrast.
You can go a couple different ways for the colors. I would start with this:
For the shirt, do white, cream, pale blue, pink, something with stripes, checks, etc. Just make sure it’s light enough to stand out against the coat. Pair this with a dark navy, brown, burgundy, or black tie, preferably with some pattern or texture
i don't mind low-contrast fits, it's a very lemaire or vintage armani aesthetic (minus the epaulets but that's what makes clothes and fashion fun, the beauty of interpretation)
Fwiw I think there’s nothing wrong with your tie knots (although your face really shouldn’t determine what kind of tie knot you wear) or your outfits (it looks good imo).
Trenchcoat is a classic and you pull it off well. Personally - sticking with the big coat trend - I’d possibly pick a longer one.
