Cashmere Overcoat - Hanger or Fold?

First time owning cashmere and advice seems mixed on daily storage. I know most people recommend folding sweaters and cardigans in cashmere. I have cedar hangers with wide ends I was considering

From a cursory glance that looks hangable. Most people fold knits because of the looser weaves

When in doubt, if it's lined you can hang it. Get a suit hanger with broad shoulders though, entirely worth it

but you wouldn't hang cashmere (or wool,cotton, etc) knits because they're knit, they stretch in each direction when force is applied. gravity acting on teh hanging knit would cause it stretch down

with most coats and shirts being woven, you can safely hang them because they dont stretch. nothing to do with structure or the fiber content, just a matter of what the item is

This is it on the hanger, think that will be ok then? I’m not used to having such a delicate material I’m normally a cheap down jacket kind of guy

But trying to smart myself up a bit

it’s really not that delicate. It’ll hold up better than most cheap down jackets

I was concerned that the ends of the hanger would stretch out the jacket (see in photo)

but I guess no more than wearing it

ah, i see what you mean. there can be indents on it if you're using a thinner hanger, but yours looks rounded enough to mitigate that

The rounded hangers are meant to protect the structure and fabrics of heavier tailoring from deforming over time exactly like you're worried about, so you're good
