are distressed sweaters annoying to wear?
i'm obsessed with this distressed sweater (https://www.troubled-waters.org/shop/p/damaged-knit-sweater) after seeing this guy wear it a lot (https://www.tiktok.com/@smithstagram) but concerned that it would be a bit annoying to have all the dangly bits around the wrist. however, no other distressed sweater I've seen gives me the same vibe as this one. should I just get it.

ah that's blueyes, he's in here. i think smiles bought one of these too?
i think smiles has the prof e
Are we gonna ping smiles on PTO? Let’s circle back until he’s back in office
the distressing on the wrists might be kind of a pain if you wear rings that would catch on it
nothing else would be a pain- some of the thin line distressing might break down to holes over time but that would still look good
he posts fit but rarely chats
oh i know blue eyes is in here
i just thought it would be wack to go like hi dude
this sweater has similar sleeve distressing and it def does sometime get caught on stuff but it's less often than you'd think

big annoying thing for me with distressed stuff is getting it caught on cabinet and door handles lol
mostly happens at the torso 4 me
this happens so much with pants for me
like the super blownout knee jeans that i have
get them caught on everything
seconding this, IME distressed stuff like this WILL get more distressed over time, holes will get bigger, etc
thank u for the advice yall i will think on it
Find one at a thrift store and shred it, then try wearing it around the house to see if the dangly bits are too annoying.
sorry that will just be a different thing 😭
they're not annoying don't worry. cop cop cop.
this is bad advice. this will not realistically simulate how this sort of sweater will wear or decay (not to mention that this kind of distressing like you see onn the cuffs would be incredibly work intensive and probably straight up impossible to achieve at home)
all due respect but if you do not understand how this kind of garment is drawn up, constructed, and achieved (which it doesnt seem like you do) or have relevant wear experience this might not be a good thread to give advice
I have a distressed sweater and it’s annoying af to wear. It unravels as you wear it and now looks like the one you posted. I periodically cut off strings lol

It's gonna be annoying, the one I got isn't though (it doesn't have the dangly bits)
I wasn't suggesting it be specific to the garment, but there are people who might like bracelets but have a visceral reaction to anything touching their wrist. "can this move the way I move in a normal day" is specific to the item, but "does this drive me up a wall" or "will I mindlessly pick at it continuously" can be at least partially answered with a prototype. I, for one, hate 3/4 sleeves, and always have. There is no 3/4 sleeve item I don't hate wearing no matter how cute or well made it is. I could try cutting the sleeves from a long sleeve and wear it for an hour and it would tell me that, or I could buy the coolest 3/4 sleeve shirt ever and also learn I hate it within an hour but also feel bad. What I suggested was trying something cheap with strings in similar places to check if the style was wearable - aka to answer OP's question on if the dangly bits around the cuffs were annoying.
yeah i think it might be fine to figure out 'am i okay with literally anything on my hands' but thats a pretty easy thing to do
something like this is basically not possible to do at home however

and so i do not think you would be able to simulate it or something similar enough that it would be relevant
Im pretty sure blue eyes says in his video about this knit you gotta be prepared to wear it lol
yeah im ngl if you have a sensory disorder I don't think you have to get to the point of wearing dangly sweaters to figure that out lmao (I have a sensory disorder)
I think the dangly strings catching and wearing over time is part of the look tbh
I have some stuff where it's meant to degrade like that
