"Invalid wifi credentials"
[ratOS v2.0.2]
So its my first time building a V-core 3.1. I have flashed my SD card and inserted it into my Raspberry Pi 3B+. I connected to the Wifi hotspot and I got to the page: http://192.168.50.1/configure. No problems up to that point.
My issue now is that when I try to select my home's WiFi network and I provide the WPA2 password, it simply says "Invalid wifi credentials", which is obviously not the case. I saw in a post from 2022 that passwords containing '$' cause it to bug out. Does '!' also cause an issue? My password contains a '!', but it does not contain a '$'.
Secondly, I don't really understand why the Pi is asking me to connect it to my home's WiFi. Can someone explain how this works to me? I thought that the Pi would only need to connect to my computer so that I can control ratOS directly from my computer. Why does the Pi need access to the internet???

The pi needs to be connected to the same wifi than your computer. Otherwise they can’t communicate. And the internet connection is needed for updates.
As for wifi credentials, some systems don’t allow for spaces in the network name. Is that your case?
Or, you can just run it without updates that most of the time are corrections. Just connect to the Pi AP everytime you need anything and keep your computer also offline.
Ohhh that must be the case, thank you
I installed a Wireless Bridge (this one has no spaces in the network name), and that worked. No more problems with inputting the WPA2 password. My Pi stopped emitting the ratos access point, and I was prompted to reconnect to my local WiFi and go to: ratos.local/configure?step=1.
However, it has been over 10 minutes now and when I try to go to that address, the browser cannot find anything.
Any ideas what is going wrong now?
If the RatOs AP is not showing means that there is an active internet connection on the rpi.
When doing the configuration, just after selecting a network for connection, did you change the name of the machine?
Yes I changed the name of the machine
Yes I understand that part
than it should not be ratos.local/...
it should be THE_NAME_YOU_GAVE.local/configure?step=1
ahhh
when changing this you also change the hostname
Thank you
YW
I will go and redo this and not change the machine name
you can change without issues
but then you need to use the hostname you gave
instead of ratos.local
