Style Doctor/Review - General style help based on my waywt fits

Hi mfad I'm looking to get more selective with my purchases while also trying to see what I can do to improve my recent fits. Would love feedback on a more meta scale about my style and how to improve, but also if that involves analyzing individual fits then thats great too! Is there anything lacking in these fits? Any blunders? Any major improvements you'd make? Any pieces you like that you'd add? Anything you'd remove or change?

the bone jeans go unfathomably hard imo the plain grey sweatshirt leaves the area feeling lacking, but i also tend to default to a higher level of detail on average i think

I agree with Lyon that there could be more going on with the gray sweatshirt whether it’s a graphic or more texture But I don’t see anything that needs changing I also personally find split toe shoes very distracting but that might be a me problem

One thing I was thinking was a lack of diversity of jewelry. Does that resonate at all? (I literally own one ring and one necklace)

All the fits have very similar silhouettes - it’s fine to have one thing and do it well, but there’s a lot of room to experiment too.

I think maybe a long necklace to break up the center block? But I don’t think it’s necessary to add more jewelry FWIW it’s a good silhouette

I feel it. Any recommendations? I feel like I'm mostly inclined to go wider but I cant find any wider pants in my size

here I am in some more narrow fit stuff

Tucking tops, cardigans/light jackets with a longer length (or extreme crop if adventurous), pleated pants. I think even sizing up on some of the tops could give you a little more length and drape First fit here is really nice, feels different, boxier etc

noted I was also just generally thinking of layering necklaces in general in a way that im not all good recs ty another bit that adapt pointed out the other day is that my photo location isnt the best and that sometimes I blend in does that track? would adding a little more artistry to my photos be worthwhile? I literally have a college degree in photography but never really cared more than taking pics right on my dresser with a front facing phone camera

The fit pics thing is true imo but is only worth it if you deem it worthwhile. No need to go on-location for fit pics and use lightroom unless you really want to Also adaptation pointing that out is beyond funny lmao

Maybe I’ll give it a try then Its been a while since I whipped out the real camera so this could be a good excuse

Use your rear camera honestly it’s a huge step up

oh yeah using the rear camera will be a massive change

Not sure if this has been said already, but is there anything you dislike about your current style? I love a lot of your fits as is, there are a bunch in my inspo folder haha Or is it a boredom/stagnation situation

yeah I guess its mostly like I see how I dress and I like it, but I feel like something is still missing its hard to put my finger on

What jumps out to me with fits 5/6 is the matching hems of the jacket/tee, whereas like fit 1 has more visual interest there Love 2/3, the sweatshirt looks cozy af but I wonder if it being plain makes it feel like somethings missing

I think @heckle answering here is funny because I use him alot for inspo. These fits of his feels like where I want to reach

especially with the layering and interesting pieces interestingly last summer looks like heckle really simplified and didnt layer and still did it super well so its not a definitive rule

I think you should lean out of workwear and go more avant garde if you wanna go with heckles style
Shrimp
ShrimpOP2d ago
yeah I agreee with that hah yeah its always a balance. maybe in line with heckle I could find something even bigger or more interesting thats just as cozy ive been thinking about this alot actually a friend of mine said something similar the other day and i think I'm aiming in that direction of the ones I originally posted I think they're mostly leaning away from workwear are there any pieces in those original 8 that are saying workwear to you? the green jacket? also to add to this, I think i am partially aiming close to heckle's last summer aesthetic because it gets so hot here I cant layer if I wanted to also to add to this I think I'm also reaching towards stevie style-wise actually im gonna bother @stevie too do you have brand recs for tops and light jackets that you like? especially with large sizes/oversize

To my eye your color palette is so ready for some accents of rich, saturated colors in the form of accessories or color blocking. I thing some bright gold jewelry could be nice too.

Hmm thats a good point. i feel like I dont wear saturated colors almost ever Could be nice to throw some pops in there i think that might be some of whats missing But since I dont own many pops of color I’ll have to start looking around

the double knees and the splattered pants come to mind like some of the others i think varying the silhouettes would help (even something like a long untucked shirt layered underneath another layer)
