question with computer (not minecraft) crashing
I just have a question, can using a high cpu preset crash your whole computer? My computer used to crash a lot with "I paid for the Whole CPU" but I thought that was shaders so i stopped using shaders for a while and reduced my cpu preset to Aggressive and it didn't crash for a while but just like 10 minutes ago, my whole computer crashed. Since it took much longer for my computer to crash AND I was in a new area when it was happening, hence the game was generating new chunks.
From the tags, I was on a nightly build for 1.21.4, was using fabric and had these mods. (image)
I'll try to grab logs in a second

ok just a quick update i was playing fortnite and my computer crashed like before so it is not a distant horizons issue
update: its 2 days later and i just want to say, if this is happening to you, please disable any undervolts you got going on. that was my issue, but also clean out your vents and update your drivers....

can using a high cpu preset crash your whole computerif there is something wrong with your computer, yes can you define "crashing"? does the whole pc just suddenly turn off?
where do i get the logs
yes the whole computer
sounds like a PSU issue
i dont know
I don't think so cause it has only ever crashed with minecraft like this and my gpu was not at high util so my computer had a good amount of power to use
thank you for responding either way though
i will try to look into my psu
what CPU do you have?
i3 12100f
4 core
8 threads
max power of 89 watts
okay good, not an intel 13 or 14th gen, those are known to break
do you also know what GPU you have, and what model PSU?
thanks for letting me know i think i will get an amd cpu in the future then
i know the gpu lemme grab the psu tho rq
rx 7600
not xt
and im on most recent stable gpu drivers
well new generations from intel wont have that problem, probably. you should buy a CPU based on reviews and value
not a great quality PSU
but i guess it should do fine for a 12100f and 7600
yuh
i think until then i will reduce cpu load though
(then being a definite fix)
Is your bios updated?
And chipset drivers, gpu drivers as well?
bios and chipset no
gpu yes
Update your bios
do you know where i can find a guide for that
thank you for letting me know though
Your motherboard vendor probably has one
Search on youtube "How to update bios for <name of your motherboard>"
The drivers page where you download the bios probably has the chipset drivers there as well
But do bios first and see if that fixes it
