Neos Postgres vs PlanetScale

Theo has recently mentioned that planetscale is way better than Neon. I really want to know much more about this. What's wrong with Neon? (I am shipping Neon for my startup and I am super interested in hearing anything you know!)

would love to see discussions/clarifications regarding this as well ⏫

well the main reason why theo went for planetscale was its scaling and the speed of requests. its more production ready than everything else

yup but that much is clear from watching the video. i'm just curious to know if neon is just severely lacking in terms of "scale and speed of requests" when compared to planetscale at his current load, or if he can make it work with adequate tweaking but just chose planetscale out of convenience/preference

imo neon was lacking in these 2 areas high queries per second (qps) non blocking schema changes now i am not saying neon is slow or bad. just for theo's use case it wouldn't hold up he also said that neon or other services would crash if he used them thus implying that they do lack in the speed aspect of things planetscale also has sm nice features like branching, roll backs etc

neon has them too I guess, maybe if the 10.000 pool of connections is not enough then it makes sense to say that it doesn't scale but I am pretty sure that at that point you can talk to the Neon team and solve that issue
