not really a minecraft server question more like a server general question
Hi Im currently running a personal minecraft server connected to playitgg with my old laptop LENOVO IDEAPAD S145. I just want to make sure my server stays up as long as possible and safe too
1. How can I make sure my laptop is accessible and online and won't disconnect remote connection at all times especially when I'm not home, currently using parsec for remote desktop, its lid is closed etc.
2. Should I remove the battery from the laptop and run it like a PC? If not, how much do I need to worry about battery degradation?; I already turned on the mode that only charges it to 60% and stays there.
3. For safe temperatures and safety, where should you place or orient the laptop and any other tips too?
4. I also want to save on some electricity costs too, any tips? Aside from shutting it down every night and turning it back again in the morning and i kinda need a automation for this sort of thing if its not too hard.

good idea to keep charger in there at all times.
for temps, its not a concern unless you tinkered with the laptop. Stock cooling should be good enough
for electricity, laptops don't burn that much power really. Shutting it down and turning it back on isn't that necessary
you can deploy wireguard on your router (if supported) or on one of the edge devices, so you can vpn back without needing a 3rd party solution/port forwarding RDP (DO NOT DO THIS)
if you are up to it, you can install linux (ubuntu server) on there to minimize the windows bloat
could probably save a few watts and some performance overhead
Install linux
