Brand Spotlight: Golf - Topic of the day 2/18/25

In the late 2010s and early 2020s, Tyler the Creator’s style took the world by storm, bringing colorful Ivy and vintage elements to the youth mainstream with his GOLF brand. Originally styled Golf Wang, the name is a play on the phrase Wolf Gang of his Los Angeles-based rap group Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All. Golf is known for their whimsical color-filled streetwear collection and GOLF le FLEUR* collaborations. What is your favorite GOLF pieces? Do you think you can dress like Tyler solely through his collection?

Ive never owned golf or really interacted with the brand but i like it a lot. Tyler has really excellent taste, makes well designed clothes in fun colors, and has consistently been doing so for a long while. Its probably a bit of nostalgia for when i first got interested in fashion but I miss when streetwear looked more like golf wang I also like that the vision is clear enough and the clothes are simple enough that you can wear an outfit that emulates the brands style without wearing any piece specifically from the brand

Golf is cool but pricey Le fleur, golf wang is typical for "streetwear"

This isn't necessarily related to the clothes, but one thing that stuck out was that when I went to the store in NYC the staff were nice to me. Really made it stand out in my head even though I know it's not really a good indicator. So many of the staff at other stores in soho are kind of dickheads. Left a good impression.

I feel like the current “streetwear” aesthetic isn’t very golf bc they really rely on vans silhouettes and LA surfer vibes more than the streetwear meta today Like how braindead isn’t exactly streetwear bc it is kinda outdoorsy and climbing inspired But that’s just making me think about how we define streetwear to be NYC streetwear even though LA kids are wearing golf and braindead and online ceramics, and it’s not like LA isn’t known for fashion Just the aesthetics are different, yet one is deemed “streetwear” and the other is just LA bro

Oh I was just referring to price, like similar to supreme, palace, dime, etc (but you're right ya mostly in the context of skate / surf "streetwear"

I've got a pair of converse x golf le flur, and I can agree with this 🔥 They've got a dog on! They're like the coolest pair of shoes I own. I've not worn them that much since I don't want to wear them down, but they're also chuck 70s.

The golf le fleurs were very very cool, and a rare instance (at the time) of a sneaker collab actually being attainable

Why buy em if you don’t wear them? Plus it looks cool if they get destroyed

But the reason I've not worn them is to keep them as pristine as I can for when I did want to wear them
