Steam games fail to open, and memory leak
Hello friends,
It seems like any steam game I open it fails to even show anything graphically.
No windows open, and steam simply acts as if the game was closed.
Not even native games like Unturned load.
I've tried

Are you using an external drive or internal one different from the one bazzite is installed on for your game library?
do you have a log of a game trying to start?
internal drive. same as the OS.
all games fail to start. I doubt they would generate any logs.
PROTON_LOG=1 %command% for any game using Proton. logs are dropped in ~/neat
do not preemptively reject the call for logs
I can check both
no game log
wrong folder
home dir
use the launch option

be advised that Unturned has a native Linux build. that launch option won't do anything unless you force Proton

gamemoderun is not included in bazzite anymore
this is by design, it's harmful to performance on modern hardware
we were always consistent about telling people not to use it

yeah. I check protonDB for any game I have issues with, and try reviews with launch options / changes
to be fair I'd imagine most people do that if they have an issue idk
gamemoderun and mangohud frequently appear on ProtonDB reports but I find that to be an incorrect use of the site because neither of them contribute to compatibility
and if you see DXVK_ASYNC=1 anywhere on the report (newer than January 2023), skip the reportdo you think the game failing to load because of
