Thinking ahead to Spring/Summer

I'm thinking this year I'm going to go all in on polo shirts and linen camp shirts and a couple linen/linen blend chinos to go with my current chino line up Do you have any recommended brands or leads where I can start looking? What should I avoid? Thank you !

I'd be careful of buying thinner, lighter shirts/pants that might be see through

Why? I’m doing the opposite

most linen pants aren't really see through unless someone's shining a flashlight on you For tops embrace the sheer, it's cool

Be adventurous, you owe yourself more than boring basics in linen.

can you give more information / context? Any pictures that inspire you? Very hard to answer your question without pointing to some generic guide like the old reddit mfa one: https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/comments/bxgv51/springsummer_a_comprehensive_wardrobe_guide_v31/

as for context, it would be for office wear - i want to wear polos tucked in, and camp shirts untucked probably i kinda like the look of polos with large vertical stripes (i've seen them before but can't seem to find them or if they're even considered good) the guide said logo on breast pocket is frowned upon, but for stuff like a fred perry polo would it be ok?

60s and 70s style polos usually have those vertical stripes, and more often than not are knit as well The guide is just a guide, I wouldn’t treat it as gospel. Fashion/casual wear doesn’t have a rule set you need to follow Most brands will do a polo or a camp collar, so really dependent on what kind of aesthetic/style you want Someone like J.crew for example tends to both have very “normal/classic” items, as well as some slightly trendy/downstream things With polos, things like Johnny collars, or knit retro ones Someone like Todd Snyder is slightly more adventurous with something like mesh polos Percival tends to do polos in louder patterns/colors

That Reddit post format has pros and cons. It lets you sort of see what brands there are and where they fall in the pricing spectrum but I also think people treat clothing too much like buying pc equipment or something I.e moving up tiers doesn’t make a piece of clothing automatically better for your style Last point that I sort of didn’t fully expand on re: logos. Logos is a subject that I think has a lot of nuance, because even though clothing is self expression, others will interpret your clothing in ways you may not intend. I think it’s a cop out to pretend you don’t care about what your clothing says. So the question is, what does the logo add to your style the absence of it doesn’t? If it’s a status signal thing, is that what you want? Or if it’s a connection to a subgroup, is that what you want to convey?

Thank you for these, it's giving me a lot to mull over I guess the last question or point I have to consider Am I looking for cotton or linen materials only? Anything else is a no no ?

I think any material can work in spring/summer But yes, to keep it simple you can stick to cotton/linen
