Server Host Options
I'm looking for the best Server host for my needs.
The server is a 1.21.4 server with backward compatibility and cross-play between Bedrock and Java edition through Geyser. The plan is to support up to 100 players on average from the beginning and needs to be able to handle factions gameplay and a small handful of plugins. The server will be hosted in the continental united states.
The budget would ideally be less than $40 USD per month. |
-# Willing to hear up to $50 USD per month for purely research purposes.
The providers I've mentally narrowed the options down to are:
- Hostinger with their 2 year plan that's heavily discounted that provides 16gb of ram.
Hostinger provides a cheaper alternative than other services, this allows us to determine if the product will be financially viable prior with less financial risk attached to the investment.- ReliableSite
At a cheaper price (after the 2yr discount) than Hostinger but a higher up front price, ReliableSites offers dedicated hardware, double the ram and double the storage space. This is a much riskier upfront investment but is capable of supporting much more players than 100, somewhere around an estimated 225, allowing for uninterrupted growth.I'd like to your best analysis of these two services and other services within the same price range that match our needs. One such option in my mind would be to use Hostinger for the first 2 years, and afterwards switch to ReliableSite should the server prove to be financially viable. However, the biggest concerns are just how reliable hostinger truly would be and I've seen high positive reception through YouTube and mixed-negative reviews through Discord. We also plan to use Velocity to link servers together. As in the future we plan to expand out of solely factions, so if this factors into the analysis please provide information. Thank you.

hmmm so are you more interested in dedicated hardware vs a panel?
as it seems you seem to be interested in reliablesite
Yeah, a panel isn't a huge deal to me. I know how to setup a server myself and can manage w/o a gui to hand-hold through the proceess. I have nothing against GUI's so long as there is FTP access, but it's just smth I don't actually need. I am comfortable with running servers on my own machine through the command line.
you can always just Use your own panel
like pterodactyl (free)
or amp (paid)
ok lets think budget wise now
dedi's are more expensive
imo youd be better off getting a host with a panel
preferibly one that can split servers
I tried doing some of my own research on that just now, however, I didn't run across anything from the light google search that seemed appropriate. Do you have explicit recommendation for such a service? I did only do cursory glances at a lot of the services that showed up, I very well could have missed important quality-related details
Pebblehost, Pufferfish, Bloom, Prism, Lilypad, EnviroMC, ServCity, Birdflop, and Berrybyte
i have 9 here
check them out, find which one you like and has splits
Alright, I've narrowed it down to either EnviroMC or Berrybyte. I'm heavily leaning toward Berrybyte. Is there anything I should be aware of with this service?
i dont have any knowledge on it imo
i would wait for users who do know about berry to jump in here
Got it got it
🙏
