NVIDIA drivers suddenly making my performance worse
Hello, I have recently purchased a new High End Laptop with a Ryzen 9 8945 HS and a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU.
I used to get a staggering 240 fps whilst running, and clipping with max shaders, and after installing the latest NVIDIA drivers (I need them for AI training), I suddenly experience significant frame drops. It seems that NVIDIA has messed with my game so I turned everything off in the NVIDA app. But nothing really seems to have changed. I still get around 100 fps when running shaders, I have already applied 8 GB of RAM.
Does anyone know a fix? I know that it is not complicated, I just do not know where this annoying fix lies. Thanks in advance!

Also, I am quite positive that the issues lie with the GPU, since I get over 700 FPS when its all CPU based, so nothing wrong with that. I really think that NVIDIA messed up everything lo
Could you send a screenshot of your F3 menu?
of course

Everything seems in check. If this is really a driver issue then Iris likely can’t do anything about it. I would take this issue to Nvidia support
You dont know if it is related though?
If what is related?
The NVIDIA driver update tampering with my game
Isn’t that the conclusion you came to? You updated your drivers and performance got worse?
Yes, that is what I think is most likely that happened, but perhaps the issue lies somewhere else, since I highly doubt that a driver update would backfire me considering I just got this laptop
Driver updates break stuff all the time. Anyway you can try downgrading the drivers or re-installing the new ones (use Display Driver Uninstaller first) to verify that that’s the case
Oh okay, thank you for your help
One last thing though, could you tell me if I am the only one experriencing this after a driver update?
Like this specific thing?
These drivers are brand new right? I haven’t seen any other person with drivers past 566.xx until now
Yes, they are brand new, I updated them yesterday
You updated your drivers... did you go back in and specify to use your dgpu instead of your igpu?
:thonkwithshades:
But their F3 screenshot shows the RTX 4070 Mobile is used as the renderer, showing the updated driver version as well.
I am confused if it is a driver issue or not... Is it?
You can check if it's a driver issue by downgrading your driver and seeing if the problem is fixed. Uninstall the driver you have downloaded. Then install the previous driver. open minecraft see if the issue is fixed.
I ran into excatly the same issue, i was sadly making a modpack so i just thought it's a mod problem, kept removing mods, reviewing source code and reading each mod's issues on github. I didn't think much of the drivers as there were too many variables, however, after running out of things to test, i decided to look into the drivers and i can confirm that rolling back my drivers fixed the issue completely.
it's really simply use DDU to remove the driver and roll back to a previous version of the driver
