I like how loud and vibrant Tremaine gets with classic silhouettes, like his type 2 jackets, bombers and varsity jackets. I feel like he’s had so much more creative freedom to make what he wants. I can see the evolution from supreme carried to his new brand as they have similar stylistic elements but he has complete creative control I also like how he hasn’t inflated prices that much either so it remains an attainable brand for those who want it I do think he sometimes skews towards edgy too much for me though on some ideas

I'm a huge fan of denim tears, he does the loud streetwear super well. Also agree it's surprising affordable for brands like this, and is overall sick, though obviously use your brain if you should wear some of his stuff. His stint at supreme was really good too.

The copy is an interesting idea: * "The Scorpion & The Frog explores parallels shared by the African American Civil Rights movement in the United States and the Troubles in Northern Ireland"*

Woven Into Denim Tears Latest Collection, a Poignant History Lesson...
Tremaine Emory, founder of Denim Tears, is not one to make clothing for clothing’s sake. And the brand’s latest collection, The Scorpion & The Frog, is no different.

haven't looked at this brand in a long while just scrolling though the shop, it looks good! i tbh stopped checking them out after the online sentiment was more or less do not wear denim tears if you're not black like others have said, i can agree with that regarding some parts of the collection, but a good portion of the current stuff seems like stuff i'd lilke to check out

There’s definitely certain pieces that would be questionable at best to wear if you’re not Black but I do think a lot of pieces are pretty universal

yea v much agreed looking at it closer i imagine it was people's response to others wearing like, african american flag polo sweater or other speciifc motifs but glad i clicked this and opened the website

I think it’s also the internet’s response to Tremaine’s exit from supreme too
algoresky
algoresky3w ago
yeah the internet is super weird about tremaine but he rocks
zeometer

basically this, especially given tremaine's stated inspiration and intention "wear what you want" ultimately applies because it's not like afterpay can identify your race but in some cases it's worth examining why you want to wear something and what wearing that thing represents.
