Most versatile pants color and material?

What would be the most versatile pants that I can wear with almost any sort of sportscoat? Gray wool trousers?

Yeah Tan/khaki/doe skin color would also be really good but it depends on the jackets you own

Navy, black, and some checks and windowpane tweeds. I’m mainly concerned with the checks just wanna find something that will go with them

When in doubt, mid grey. Flannels for winter, tropical wool for summer (usually). I'd say a more matte grey is better than a shinier grey, it's easier to dress up matte grey than dress down shiny grey And a well cut grey flannel trousers with a half lining feels like wearing sweatpants almost, I Iove them personally

Yeah I was looking at medium grey flannel trousers seem they’d be best to pair with anything Meant to reply to this

I get a lot of mileage out of mine, especially an older 4 pleat pair I found on eBay. Great with chunky knitwear

Yeah definitely thick enough, those chunky ones are 3-ply so they will be very warm indeed

Inis Meain is a great brand with great knitwear, pretty easy to find on eBay usually in great condition. Batoner is it Japanese brand pretty easy to find in the US with amazing chunky, drapey knits. O'Connell's has a great New Old Stock section for knitwear with great deals on vintage pieces. Aran sweater Market is my favorite for cheap beater pieces, in the same price point as good knitwear companies like peregrine and Gloverall.
