"Unspecified error" when copying to/from USB drives.
It thinks a 16gb stick contains 52 GB of files. Interruptions when copying to external hard drive

What USB drive is this
And where did you get it
I’d start by copying to internal drive first, eliminate the usb-usb connection
Id also just do a couple files at a time
But might just be a dying flash drive
it's mine, I've had it for years lol

back-up of some photos* and whatsapp files before resetting a phone
uhhh
this is a 16gb stick
well that's certainly part of the problem

antivirus doesn't find anything
wouldn't think virus, just that the filesystem is corrupted or the drive is otherwise failing
flash drives are cheap
looking up the error code, it's related to encryption, so maybe the phone was password protecting the recycle bin or something
huawei was annoying with the back-ups
had to use their proprietary things
I'll just delete the recycle bin and close the thread, i guess
this looks funny

either incompatible language systems from Huawei's internal language
or they're just corrupt
b/c even the extensions are busted
also i doubt your phone had files from 1969
just a hunch

ah yes, backups from 1937
Good year
FWIW if you hjad to jump through hoops to back up through huawei, you might only be able to restore it that way :/
I copied the user's files with no issues (besides having to go folder by folder because the connection was chocking when copying all the files at once)
it was just this one funny folder that copied fine on linux but panicked windows so, no more issues
the hoops are like, for one grand back-up and restore with one command and one master password with their utility, I won't be restoring this
