What's cooler: lightweight dress shirt w/ undershirt or non-translucent shirt no undershirt?

Wondering what my best bet is for a summer wedding: 1) A light poplin or linen that might be see-through and thus warrant an undershirt, 2) a twill or something slightly thicker but that allows me to skip the undershirt, or 3) some other magical hot tip?

In the wedding party. The assignment is navy suit, white shirt, blue tie, brown shoes.

You should probably wear a spread collar with a bow tie.Sorry, I read "bow tie" not "blue tie". I would probably buy a tropical wool shirt. The fabrics you mentioned could also work, find a skin-toned undershirt in a fabric that will wick away sweat (not cotton).

Buy a Uniqlo airism mesh undershirt in either white or tan (my preference) Shirt transparency is dictated by thickness and weave - but frankly won’t be noticeable with either color above. Just don’t buy a paper thin shirt. As for tie and shoe color / style, I’d consult with your groom first You’re also already wearing a suit - the shirt won’t solve for much. Again, check the color w/ the groom, but a tropical wool (fresco, solaro, etc) suit is probably the best bet. You could also look at lighter S1XXs or linens, but the latter is probably not ideal.

+1 for uniqlo airism mesh V neck undershirt. I wear them under everything. don't bother with the white ones, only get tan. tan will never show under a shirt

Is there a tie needed? I’d just go linen if it’s casual and dress shirt if it’s formal
